passed away on September 1, 2023.
Daughter of the late Shelby and Dorothy Anderson Jr. of Richmond Heights, Mo. Proceeded in death by her husband Edward (Duke) Schreiner. Graduated from Maplewood Richmond Heights High School in the Great Class of ’64 and Marquette University with a degree in Medical Technology. After graduating college, Karen’s search for adventure took her to Honolulu, Hawaii, where she resided with a fellow alumnus. She returned to St. Louis in 1972 and went to work at St. Anthony’s Hospital (now Mercy South) as head of the hospital’s blood bank. In 1986 she left St. Anthony’s to start her own company, Capco, where she assisted Senior citizens in processing claims for Medicare reimbursement for out of pocket medical expenses. Karen is survived by her brother Shelby Anderson III (sister-in-law Donna) and her sister Sandra Zaremba nee Anderson (brother-in-law Stanley) along with nieces Bess Baker and Sarah Crosbie: Nephews Shelby Anderson IV and Stanley Zaremba V and great nieces and nephews Chrishawn, Madison, Shelby V, Jamia, Jonasia, Jessica, Carmody, Audrey, Brooklyn, and Mackenzie. Karen was also much loved by her extended family and many friends.
Visitation Monday, September 4, 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois Rd. Funeral Tuesday, September 5, 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi, 1000 Luebbering Rd., Luebbering, MO 63061. Interment St. Francis of Assisi Church Cemetery.
I met Karen in 7th Grade. She was so special and everyone loved her. She brought joy to all. Karen had a such a sparkling personality. She was witty, smart and successful. It has been such an honor and privilege to have Karen as a friend for 60+ years. We will miss Karen so much at all of our MRH gatherings.
Karen touched us and taught us so much. The Hensley and Wilmes family were so blessed to know her! Love you so much Karen!
Karen was a special person. Little but mighty. So fun to be with such a cheerful person. I went to junior high, high school with Karen and have remained friends for all these years. Karen will be missed by many.
