In Loving Memory

Simmonds, Richard E. “Rick”

September 18, 1968 - December 11, 2025

Richard (Rick) Simmonds, of St. Louis, MO, passed away on December 11, 2025. Rick was born in Mendota, IL, but lived in Indiana, Illinois and Missouri throughout his life.

Rick was the eldest of six children, and arguably the smartest of them all.  He once memorized the entire Trivial Pursuit game, which made him challenging on game nights.  He was a talented musician, playing the trumpet throughout his life, and had earned a college scholarship based on that talent.  He graduated from Greenville College with a bachelors in psychology and biology.  During college he worked for Manpower with his brothers Randy and Jason for three days, but then found a different passion after graduation and worked as an EMT for several years before transitioning to IT.

Rick enjoyed playing role playing games with his high school and college friends, his nephew Trae. and many work friends throughout the years. One of his favorite excursions was attending GenCon (lovingly referred to as nerd camp) each year in Indianapolis. While he seemed mild mannered, he drove a muscle car and listened to heavy metal. Rick earned a black belt in escrima, and frequently used his talents in martial arts on his siblings.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother Yvonne Simmonds, his nephew Justice Simmonds, and his uncle Brad Finney. Rick is survived by his father Paul Simmonds and his siblings Brandi (Dean) Bond, Randall Finney, Jason (Lisa) Simmonds, Josh Finney, and Denali Endicott, nieces and nephews Rosa, Dylan, Trae, Gabrielle and Izzy and his dog Peeta, who loved Rick unconditionally.

Rick’s warmth, humor, and passion for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel 10151 Gravois Rd. 63123 on Saturday, December 20 from 3:00 pm. until Funeral Service time at 5:00 pm. Interment will be held in private.

Condolences

  1. You are the best big brother I could have asked for. You will be dearly missed until we meet again. I know Mom and Justice were waiting to receive you that day. What is our mourning, is their celebration.

I love you and will miss you.

  2. Having played Trivia Pursuit one evening at a family gathering I must say Rick’s retention of facts was truly amazing. Rick was a very kind and caring soul; he will be deeply missed. With deepest sympathy, Virginia Bond
