In Loving Memory

Smith, Dorothy C. (nee: Carlton)

January 25, 1946 - February 25, 2026

Dorothy “Dot” Smith passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur A. Smith.

She is survived by her stepson Arthur Jr. (Rachel); stepdaughter Kathleen (Paul Putnam) Smith; 4 step-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild. She is, also, survived by her niece, Angie, a nephew, Junior, and many cousins, plus countless friends and colleagues who will remember her warmth, kindness, and wonderful spirit. A devoted parishioner of St. Raymond–St. Elizabeth Parish in Crestwood, Missouri, Dot dedicated many years to teaching CCD and was an active member of the parish choir. Her faith and service to the church community were an important part of her life. Dot also devoted more than 30 years of her professional life to Crestpoint Ophthalmics in St. Louis, Missouri. During her time there, she built numerous friendships and professional relationships throughout the ophthalmic industry, working closely with doctors, surgeons, and specialists across the field. Her professionalism, dedication, and kindness left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working with her. Dot was an avid reader and loved to travel, always eager to explore new places and learn about the world around her. One of the most cherished things about Dot was her remarkable ability to tell stories, sharing memories of her past experiences, travels, the people she met along the way, and her upbringing in the South. Her stories brought laughter, wisdom, and connection to those fortunate enough to hear them.

Dot will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her generous spirit, love of conversation, and gift for storytelling will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and colleagues.
