In Loving Memory

Strohmeyer, Beverly “Bev” Gale

July 7, 1944 - September 15, 2023

Beverly “Bev” Gale (Ziegler) Strohmeyer (79), wife, mother, grandmother was called home on the 15th of September 2023 in Saint Louis, Missouri surrounded by her loving family.

Bev was born in Kansas City, Missouri on July 7, 1944. After graduating from Raytown High School, Bev married Donald Strohmeyer on September 21, 1963. Shortly after their 2 sons were born, Don and Bev moved to Cape Girardeau, Missouri where they built their life together.

Taking Don’s place on the Cape Arts Council, Bev worked her way to become the Executive Director of the MO Arts Council in Saint Louis for 9 years – the longest serving executive director and the first without a college degree. Beverly passionately served the Arts for over 35 years.

While Bev was successful in her career, her true accomplishments were the enjoyment of her life, family and serving others. Bev’s home was always open to all, and they better be ready to eat her famous brisket and chocolate chip cookies. Bev loved others with her whole being, was fiercely devoted to her family, and always spoke her mind. Bev is a one of a kind soul who’s joy, smile and laughter will be dearly missed.

Beverly leaves behind her husband Donald; brothers Jerry (Sheri) Ziegler and Mike Ziegler; sons Daniel (Linda) Strohmeyer and Darryl (Teresa) Strohmeyer; honorary-daughter Sheila (Carliss) Sheppard; grandchildren Kelly (Matt) Holloway and children (Kelsi, Lexie, Kylie, Kiersten, Logan), Megan (Alan) Kelly and children (Alex, Damian, Leah, Ava, Abby, Aiden, Liam), Devon (Heather) Strohmeyer and children (Drake, Marley, Cambrie, Emma, Cooper, Devynn) and Tori Strohmeyer; honorary-grandchildren Lauren Sheppard, Marissa (Andrew) Schaefer and children (Rowan, Thorin), Heather Sheppard, Madison Sheppard and Montana.

Services: Visitation at Historic Trinity Lutheran Church – Soulard, 812 Soulard Street, St. Louis, on Saturday, September 23, from 12:00 pm until funeral service at 1:30 pm. Interment on Sunday, September 24, 2:30 pm at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery, Cape Girardeau, MO. A Kutis South County Chapel Service.

  1. I can’t imagine going to Church on Sundays and not seeing Bev’s beautiful smile, but I will hold that vision of her in my heart forever. May God comfort all who mourn.
