In Loving Memory of Susan Maureen Sutton
November 20, 1952 – June 2, 2025

With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of Susan Maureen Sutton, a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Susan was born on November 20, 1952, and married Robert L. Sutton. She was a devoted mother to Nathan (Elisha) Sutton, and a proud and doting “Grammy” to Emmett and Jones Sutton, who brought her endless joy.

She was the loving sister of Katherine (John) Auble, Terry (Leslie) Mooney, and Patricia (Lowell) Peak, and a treasured step-sister to the Atkinson family in Baltimore. Susan was preceded in death by her mother Audrey Atkinson, her father Henry “Doc” Mooney, and her sister Kate (Tony) Rudebeck.  Loving guardian to her dogs: Sophie, Sadie, Sandy and Stormy.

Affectionately known as “Favorite Aunt Susan Dear,” she was a fun-loving great-aunt and a loyal friend to so many. Her warmth, generosity, and fierce loyalty created lasting bonds wherever she went.  Throughout her life, Susan was strong and determined. Even as her health declined, Susan demonstrating strength and courage.  Her faith, hope and optimism inspired us all.

Susan dedicated 39 years to Walgreens, where she forged countless friendships and touched the lives of coworkers and customers alike. Competitive by nature and young at heart, she thrived in the game—whether on the racquetball court, softball field, golf course, or seated at a poker table in retirement, where she earned her reputation as a “world-class” player.

She especially loved hosting Ladies Day at Busch Stadium, and she made every gathering feel like a celebration. Her legendary Easter Egg Hunts brought joy to generations of children and became a treasured tradition for family and friends.

Thank you, Susan, for always showing up with love, laughter, and support. Your presence will be deeply missed at family dinners, holidays, and all of life’s precious moments. You live on in our hearts, and your memory will continue to bring smiles and warmth to those who loved you.

They walk beside us every day—
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed, and very dear.”
