It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Gene Tacony on August 5, 2025.
Born July 25, 1962.
Gene was a natural problem solver, and he applied his skills in his work and for his family and friends. Never a problem that he wouldn’t give his fullest effort, Gene showed those around him that common sense and a willingness to try could get the job done.
During his career his leadership enabled him to organize any team and earned the respect of those that worked alongside him. Gene valued hard work, honest people, and a good joke. His friends knew they would always find in him a helping hand and a good laugh.
He loved classic cars, music, and to fish. He was happiest on the water, in his garage, or with his family and friends.
He will be missed.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Dawn (Whitener) Tacony, his sons Nicholas (Michelle) and Brian (Pebbles) and his grandsons Morrison, Thomas, and Theodore, his siblings Nannette Wills, Albert (Judy) and Michael (Sandy). He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Mildred Tacony (Johnson) and younger brother Robert.

Gene was the best of the best. Working with him over the past 25 years was an honor. Never a dull moment with that guy. He was funny, kind and one of my favorite people. What I’ll remember most however ,was the huge heart he had. He never turned down a friend in need and I was the recipient of his help on more occasions than I can count. He was truly one of a kind. Sending all the love I can to you Dawn, Nick, Brian, Michelle, Pebbles, and those beautiful grandsons. We loved hearing all the stories of his amazing family and how proud he was to show you off…. including Mr. President.. Love to you all
My deepest condolences to the family. Gene was simply a good ol boy, and full hearted human being. I got to know Gene through mutual work friend Steve Reust, and he became a regular lunch mate. Absolutely loved his take on life, and his ever positive take on life & people.
His family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers.
He was a good person and had a very good sense of humor. He was always very caring.
