Thousand, John William Jr.

Age 94, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020.

Preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Marie Thousand (nee Worthen); loving father of Dr. John William (Judy) Thousand III and Melanie (Tom) Stahlheber; loving grandfather of Kristen Marie (Trey) Hogan, Dr. John William (Jenni) Thousand IV, Drew Thomas (Kim) Stahlheber, Dr. Daniel Jackson Thousand, and Michael Lee Stahlheber; dearest great grandfather of Carl Glennon Hogan IV, Pallen Marie Hogan, Ellorah Lynn Stahlheber, and Braxton Earl Stahlheber; dear brother of Robert Ray Thousand Sr.; dear Brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend to many.

John was a WWII Navy Veteran who served in the Pacific Theater. He was a design mechanical engineer. John was a 32 degree Mason, Shriner, member of Greater St. Louis Austin Healy Club, and International Austin Healy Club. His passion was rebuilding and restoring classic foreign and domestic cars. John enjoyed travel, woodworking, cycling, snow skiing, water skiing and spending time enjoying the view from the deck of his house @ Lake of the Ozarks.

SERVICES: Funeral at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois Rd., Monday, December 21, 10:00 AM. Interment St. Lucas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospital. Visitation Sunday, December 20, 4:00 – 8:00 PM.

  1. John and Peggy were part of the Gateway Healey Club membership that made many road trips to regional and national club events. We enjoyed our travels with them over the years. Great memories and that’s how we will always remember them.
