Wensler

In Loving Memory

Wensler, Craig R. Sr.

Craig R. Wensler, Sr., age 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on December 8, 2020.  He was born on March 11, 1947 in St. Louis, MO to Charles Wensler and Stella (Grist).

Craig is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sharon (Matlock) and his “darling children”; Robin (Wensler) Turek,  Craig Wensler, Jr., Roger Wensler, Nathan Stroup, Sr. and Tanya (Stroup) Kofron.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, cousins, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and many friends.  He was proceeded in death by his parents and his brother, Chuck.

Craig retired from BJC Healthcare after 24 years of service.  He made many friends over the years and also stayed in contact with his childhood friends for over 60 years.  Craig enjoyed having pool parties and you would never leave his house hungry.

Craig loved to travel and anyone that knew him, knew his love of Hawaii.  If you had the privilege of going to Hawaii with him, he was always the ultimate tour guide (as long as you were proficient with u-turns) and would take you to all the known and unknown Hawaiian attractions and answer all you questions.

Craig loved animals and in lieu of flowers he would like memorial donations be made to:

Open Door Animal Sanctuary

6065 Duda Road

House Springs, MO 63051

With Craig’s love of Hawaii; he requested anyone attending his celebration to be in Hawaiian or vacation attire, please no suits or dark colors.  He wants his service to be an uplifting celebration of his life, not focused on his death.

We will be celebrating Craig’s life on Saturday, December 12, 2020 from 1pm-6pm at Kutis Funeral Home located at 5255 Lemay Ferry Road  There will be a private service at 6pm which will be streamed live on Kutis’s Facebook page.

  9. Sharon – My best to you and the family. As you know Craig and I worked together a lot here and there and always had fun. Some of my memories I laugh at now we’re of us trying to understand what we were doing something stupid. But we were told to do it.
He will be missed, my best to you and the kids.

  13. Sharon and the entire Wensler/Matlock family. Craig was one of the most genuine human beings I have ever met. So open and caring and welling to share. The times I spent with the family at the Wensler home in Barnhart will be forever cherished; warm, cozy and plenty of good food. My love to all of you.
