Bill was born January 20, 1948 in Nemacolin, PA. He resided in Pennsylvania and Indiana before making his way to St. Louis. He was passionate about family. Bill was proud of his girls and grandchildren and always shared in their accomplishments. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. He also enjoyed a life-long passion for cars and soccer. You could always find him driving around in his ’32 Model T Ford or ’86 Corvette. He enjoyed coaching soccer and later stayed active in the soccer community by refereeing high school games. Because of his love of soccer, he was involved with the Kolping Kicks Soccer Club and a board member of the Catholic Kolping Society. With a generous heart of gold, he never hesitated to help anyone. He never met a stranger. Bill will be missed dearly by so many. Irreplaceable.

Bill was an awesome person. He was fun to be around & had a great sense of humor. We became closer friends during the last 3 years driving together to all of our high school soccer games. The upcoming soccer season will be very empty without him. I will miss him very much.

We are so sorry your wonderful Bill has passed. Bill lived a full beautiful life and we understand his absence will be a great hardship for so many. He was always up for great conversation and always had a friendly smile to go with it. We are praying for family and friends during this most upsetting and very difficult time. May the Lord carry us through.

Bill was a class act! He made sure to put a smile on everyone’s face. He showed compassion and kindness in every interaction and was just a really good guy. He would burst with pride when he spoke about his family. I truly enjoyed working with him at Valley Park.

Bill was one of a kind. Always smiling and starting up a conversation in the hallway at school. We would always talk about my dad and his wife going to the same grade school, such a small world! I will never forget his kind soul. He will be missed by so many. RIP Bill.

Bill always found time to lend a helping hand, offer a listening ear, and give a funny yet truthful perspective on life. I am sure that Bill and God are in the middle of a great conversation right now. May peace and grace guide the Werton family through this time. Thank you for sharing him with us at VPSD.

I loved working with Bill at Valley Park! Always a smile in his face. Bill was wonderful with kids and adults alike. Bill was a great mentor to several of our children who needed a positive male figure. I pray happy memories will sustain Bill’s friends and family during this time of loss.

My DAD was and is EVERYTHING to me and Emily! He was Our Guy in our lives. He attended every volleyball game for Em and most recently her track meets too. He always came to every one of my games, meets and all the times i sang outr National Anthem. He took us to the airport Friday for vaca so we got to be with him one last time. He was early as usual, wouldn’t have it any other way.
My Dad was and still is THE BEST! Always had a smile, funny, smart, kind….Salt Of The Earth! He literally gives you the shirt off his back. Always lending a helping hand, a giver, selfless and always gave 100%!
I have had sooooo many signs from him already.
I love you with all my heart and soul Dad and I will see you again another day.
Please watch over us

Steph, Julie and Tracie, I’m so very sorry for what you are going through right now. Our families go way back to when you were all little kids growing up. Your dad was Amy’s soccer coach, your dad and Jerry were constantly at the soccer and softball fields with you girls. If your dad wasn’t coaching he was in that ref uni. Your dad was always so happy and fun to be around. I know how hard it is for you all right now having been there myself just a few short months ago. All I can say is cherish all the memories and try to laugh a lot when you’re talking about him. There won’t be a day that you won’t think about him. That’s because he’s always with you…you’re part of him. Just celebrate and remember how lucky that he was your dad. Thinking about you all remembering you all in my prayers.❤️ R.I.P. Bill. I know you’re in heaven with all the other great guys.

Our condolences to the whole Werton family. Mr. Werton is such a staple in my childhood memories. Starting with Fenton T-ball for Steph and Brad to reffing soccer games, to coaching me in soccer, I can still picture him and my dad laughing it up at Fenton park. Years later, I enjoyed seeing him around town and up at school watching Em. Seeing him always reminded me of my dad. My heart goes out to you all during this difficult time. Being together, sharing the memories and laughter will hopefully give you all some comfort. I just know he is up there having a laugh with my dad.

Stephanie, Julie, and Tracie, I was so very sorry to hear about your dad. I remember him as always cheerful and smiling–and never at a loss for words. He was enormously helpful to me with my car, going way beyond what anyone else would have done. He leaves behind a legacy of three beautiful daughters and will live on in your children and grandchildren. Remember all the happy times with him.
