Andrew David Wick, 75, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, December 14, 2018. Beloved husband of 53 years to Patricia Ann Wick (nee Wienert); loving father of Gregory (Lori) Wick and Rebecca (Michael) Hengehold; adoring grandfather of Ashleigh and Alexandra Wick and Brendan and Evan Hengehold; dearest brother of Paulette Keller (nee Wick); dear brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend to many. Preceded in death by his father, Andrew Wick, Jr and mother, Ruby Irene Wick.
David grew up in Affton, Missouri and graduated from Affton High School in 1960. At Affton High School he graduated fourth in his class and was a member of the National Honor Society. As well, he was an avid sports player including baseball. He started baseball in little league in the Heine Meine league and played throughout early adulthood.
David went on to earn his Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville. In order to pay for his college career, during late high school and throughout college career he worked for the Frisco Railroad as a caller.
David joined the Army in May 1968 and was a Military Police in Korea as part of the 8th U.S. Army 728th Battalion. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant/SPC 6. After honorable discharge with several awards, including the Army Commendation Medal, he started his long and successful career in the appliance industry. David started his career in the warehouse of Federal Distributing, quickly moved up to sales and found his niche. David worked his way up to President of Roth Distributing. After Roth, he went to California for Dacor as Vice President of Sales and eventually promoted to Senior Vice President of Sales. A very successful businessman that always put his team first, traveling St Louis to California each week. Everyone that worked with him appreciated his work ethic and his great business sense.
Throughout life David enjoyed traveling with Patricia and raising their children. He took great pride in his family. Upon retirement from Dacor, David loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially watching their sporting events and activities. He attended well over a thousand softball, soccer, basketball and baseball games as well as dance recitals and talent shows in the past 15 years. He was always the voice of constant encouragement and brutal honesty and this will be missed!
David was also a longtime member and officer of the Missouri Emergency Response Service (MERS) large animal rescue team.
David was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt. His yearly fishing trips to Canada and hunting trips were always top subjects of his wonderful stories. But above all he loved spending time with his family.
