Katherine L Wiker, 92, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of May 26, 2025. A beautiful and strong woman who raised three children on her own, dedicated to her work, and struggled with multiple health issues over the past 36 years.
Born in Denver, Colorado in 1932 to Ole Lee Halverson and Katherine Yeada Halverson, Katherine was preceded in death by her siblings Veline M Elliott (UT), Verla A Funsch (NY), and Donald C Halverson (CO), and by her son Jon Clayton Wiker (UT, Feb 2025).
Survived by her children Wendy Black (Keith), Kathleen Lott (Edward), and six grandchildren, Vaughn Ranek, Audrey Frame (Lauren), Joshua Ranek, George Black (Cassidy), Samantha Fuller, and Danielle Fuller, and three great grandchildren Raelyn Frame, Parker Frame, and Arthur Black.
She was a very resilient woman young at heart who had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to garden, and loved her family. She is truly loved and will be missed by all of us until we meet again in heaven. Her prayer for our family, “Our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ will, I pray, watch over my children and theirs and keep them safe and free from pain according to His plan.”
Rest in peace mom.
Wiker girls…our moms were friends from Streamwood and after becoming single parents they both moved to Chicago and Kathy and her children lived with us for a year. She was a lovely woman and the last I spoke with her was in December. We kept in touch even though my mom had long since passed away. Just last night I looked up Clayton and saw that he had passed away recently as well. I remember him climbing those tall trees in Streamwood and pass by your old house now when we visit our grandchildren and always think of those early years. I am so sorry for your loss. Kathy was a wonderful woman and I know that you miss her very much. I also left a comment on Claytons obit yesterday. What loss you family has gone through this year.
