Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church Monday, Mary passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

Beloved wife of 62 years to the late Edward Earl Schmidt,  loving mother of Theresa (Greg) Campbell, Edward (Shelly) Schmidt, Patrick (Debbie) Schmidt, Ann (Reid) Stuber and the late Julie (surviving Ron) Edgar; adoring grandmother of Ryan (Katie) Campbell, Mary (Rob) Kennedy, Megan (Luke) Blount, Madelyn (Timmy) Michel, Christopher Campbell, Edward (Katie) Schmidt, Abigail (Spencer) Wesson, Katelyn, Brandon(Natalie), Emily Edgar, Amanda, Emma and Collin Schmidt, Brendan Stuber, Bridgette Clifton and Owen Stuber; cherished great-grandmother of Brigid, Margaret, Caroline, Lucy, Patrick, Anne, Callie, Emma, Russell,  Benjamin, Eleanore, Oliver, Wilder, Adelaide, Julia; dear sister of the late Harry (Marie) Gilbert, the late Donald (late Marie) Gilbert and the late Margaret (late Rudy) Pale; our dear sister in law, uncle, aunt, Godmother and friend to so many.

Mary was the mother of 5, grandmother of 16, and great grandmother of 15.

Mary lived her faith as an over 60-year parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Parish.  Her service to the parish community included quilting, feeding the poor, weekly Rosary group, Pro Life, and volunteering at the parish school where all five of her children attended.  Everyone knew of Mary’s strong faith and prayerful life and would often come to her with their prayer requests.

Services: Visitation at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois, Monday, Sept. 8, 4 – 8 PM.  Funeral Tues, Sept. 9, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church (Kingshighway) for 10:00 AM Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Masses or contributions to the charity of your choice appreciated.

  1. We are so saddened by the loss of a wonderful friend and neighbor. She was such a sweet, caring person. The memories we have and wish we could share are so many. We are so sorry we will ben unable to attend the service on Monday. Thanks to Ann for sharing the sad news. Love and prayers to all the Schmidt Family.

    Your mother was a dear person. Knew her for many years at Magdalen. Bowled with her, volunteered with her many times. She was an exceptional parishioner. Always ready to help. Will miss her smile.

  3. Mary was a dear friend as we worked together many years then quilted together for many years also. Plus we were also mother-in-laws to Reid and Ann. I will miss her greatly.

  5. Mary Schmidt was an amazing lady.
    So full of her faith and spoke so highly of all her children and grandchildren.
    I used to cut Mary’s hair for a longtime, she always had a zest for life .I remember her sewing and doing embroidery.
    She was one to look up to and will be missed for sure.
    We also shared a love for Weimaraners.
    My heart goes out to the Schmidt family
