Richards, Sgt. Jack E. St.L.P.D. (Ret.), on Sunday, August 6, 2017. Born and raised in Baden, MO. Served in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957 where he was honorably discharged. He served the St. Louis Police Department from 1962 to 1991 with 14 of those years spent in the Canine Unit with his most trusted and favorite partner Towbar. Towbar received the German Shepherd Dog Club 1st Annual Award for outstanding service performed by a K-9 Dog in October 1971. Officer Richards retired in July 1991 but later worked for the US Federal Courts in East St. Louis, IL as a CSO to Judges for 23 years. Officer Richards was also a member of St. Lukes United Church of Christ in Imperial, MO. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Richards (nee) Adams); dear father of Sandra L. (Kevin) Jesse and Steve (Laura) Richards; loving grand-father of Ryan and Laura Jesse and Taylor and Madison Richards; dear great-grandfather of “C.J.” Clinton Jesse Drake; our dear brother of William F. Richards Jr. and the late Robert Roy Richards; our dear brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend.
Services: Funeral from KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd., on Wednesday, August 9, 10 a.m. Interment J.B. National Cemetery. Contributions to The Humane Society appreciated. Visitation Tuesday, 3-8 p.m.
