Hatcher, John L. Sr.

January 6, 1945 - May 5, 2025

John L. Hatcher Sr., father, brother, Army veteran, and cherished friend, passed away on May 5, 2025. Born on January 6, 1945, his warmth, humor, and love for sports brought joy to all who knew him.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was active in church throughout his youth. Often sharing stories of church parties and events that he attended as a teen. John proudly served his country in the Army from May 1962 until June 1965. His dedication and service are a testament to his character and commitment.
He leaves behind his children: Brian Hatcher (Tammy) of Phoenix, AZ; John (Charlie)Hatcher Jr. of Milwaukee, WI; and Tera “Krissy” Scott (Jason)of Stafford, VA.; Karen Courina; Trina Wade (Darnell) of St. Louis, MO; Adrienne White of St. Louis, MO; brother Leon Hatcher (Margret) of St. Louis, MO; and sisters Wilma Phillips of Arnold, MO; Patrica Brunson of Erie, Pennsylvania and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his sons John L. (Jon-Jon) Hatcher Jr.; Demetrius Hatcher; Terrance Hinton Sr.; daughter Pertina Hatcher; five sisters, three brothers, and his loving mother Velma “Cookie” Lee Pride and father John Hatcher.
John’s love for the company of others, his knack for cracking jokes, and his passion for watching sports will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
John lived a long and full life. In a moment of reflection, he once said, “I did what I wanted, when I wanted!” And he truly did just that!
The family would like to thank John’s caretaker Lou Chambers-Watson for her years of love and support. We sincerely appreciate the friendship, kindness, and dedication you gave our father, brother, uncle and friend. Thank you!
The family would also like to thank Aunt Wilma Jean Phillips for standing in the gap and taking care of John’s during his later years. We could not have asked for a better person to watch over him. We love and appreciate you!

Services: Visitation Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Kutis South County Chapel (5255 Lemay Ferry Road).
