Mary Beth Murphy

In Loving Memory

Murphy, Mary Elizabeth (nee Berra)

September 10, 1939 - November 12, 2023

Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, on Sunday, November 12, 2023.

Beloved wife of 62 years to Stephen J. Murphy; loving mother of Stephen J. (Amy) Murphy, III; Tina (John) Godar; dear grandmother of Jack, Joe, Matt and Kathleen Godar; Stephen, IV and Natalie Murphy; our dear cousin, aunt, great-aunt and friend to many.

Mary Beth was a woman of strong faith in God. She was a lifelong St. Louisan who grew up in the Hill neighborhood during the ‘40s and ‘50s. She lived a life of ordinary family involvement and steadfast service to others with extraordinary, long-term impact. Mary Beth was fiercely proud of her family roots in Cuggiono, Italy outside of Milan. A devoted mother, an outstanding grandmother, a dedicated wife of more than 62 years and the friendly face who greeted all who entered the Law Offices of Stephen J. Murphy in Sappington, MO, Mary Beth often encountered and comforted people going through some of their most challenging and difficult times.

Her family profoundly thanks her caregivers at Laclede Groves in Webster Groves, who brought Mary Beth comfort and peace in the final chapter of her life.

Services: Visitation, Tuesday, November 21, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Kutis Funeral Home, 10151 Gravois, Affton; Funeral Mass, Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 5130 Wilson Ave. at Marconi, St. Louis. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

If desired or in lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Beth’s name may be made to St. Ambrose Forever or the Little Sisters of the Poor.
