  16. Dear Colletta and Bokamper families,
In 1988-89, Mrs. Bokamper was my 8th grade history and homeroom teacher. I’ve thought of her often over the last decades, always with fondness. She infused her students with confidence and taught us self-reliance. She was the first teacher to ever call us “Miss” and “Mr.” and set high expectations, which we all wanted to meet—for her. All of us loved and respected her, and many students called her their favorite. I’ll never forget on graduation night, as she handed me my certificate, she told me I could achieve anything. That stayed with me through high school, college, grad school and well into life beyond school. She was an absolute gem and is a fixture in my most treasured childhood memories. I’m sure she’s in heaven, inspiring even the angels.

  17. Sue is an absolute legend at St Francis of Assisi! I had the joy of being her principal at the end of her years there. There was not one time that I gave a tour to prospective parents who had also attended SFA or other alumni that they did not ask about her! She was tough on her students but loved them dearly and they adored her for it. Sue will be greatly missed and I lift you, Matt, and your entire family in prayer as you grieve her passing.

  33. Mrs, Bokamper was one of the best. There’s nothing she wouldn’t do to help her students to succeed. Her heart was as big as her personality. I knew her for years. We actually hung out sometimes at her house before her husband came home. We shared so many stories and good times My son David and daughter Katrina loved her as much as I did.
She would never tell a child that was down, that you won’t succeed, that wasn’t her style. Encourement is was she gave and a listening ear. Her smile and laughter was contagious, Matt, I held you as a baby when your mom tutored my child. I will miss her with all my heart, she’s in heaven now with the Angel’s where she belongs.
God Bless her up in heaven and her family here on earth. ❤️
