In Loving Memory

Carpenter, Chris

It is with great sadness that the family of Chris Carpenter announces his sudden passing on December 22, 2020 at the age of 51.

Chris was born on May 16, 1969 in Clinton, Iowa. He was the son of the late Susan (Ryner) Guthrel, and Gregory Carpenter. Chris graduated from Parkway South High School in 1987 and went on to study at Southeast Missouri State. He was an accomplished carpenter, building homes across St. Louis, Missouri, and for Harbourside Custom Homes in Bonita Springs and Naples, Florida. He owned and operated True Carpenter Construction in St. Louis building astonishing decks, homes and elevators alongside his employees, who were like family.

Chris was an irreplaceable father. He spent his free time coaching football, baseball, Boy scouts and any endeavor that his son took an interest in. He loved the outdoors as he was an avid fisherman (Legend fisherman, if you ask his nephew, Maddux), and loved hunting, shooting, golfing and of course the Dallas Cowboys.

Simply put, Chris was pure love with a heart of gold. He gave endlessly to his family and friends. He dedicated himself to providing his wife and son with the best life possible. He gave them the world…and wasn’t finished doing so.

Left to carry on his legacy is his beloved wife, Tina and son, Tanner. Also grieving are siblings: Kelly (Dave) Stone, Dana Gholson, Chrissy (Danny) Jaggie, Mark (Johnna) Guthrel, James Guthrel, Andi (Kit) Norwich, Elizabeth (Jamie) Lempke, and brother and sister-in-law Tyler (Kelly) Tanner. Also grieving are step father, David Guthrel, nieces and nephews: Maggie and Maddux Tanner, Josh, Gabe and Sophie Stone, Amber and Darren Gholson, James Bertel, Annie Spotswood, Brooke Guthrel, Jake LaFreniere, Austin and Miranda Cory, Gavin, Victoria and Isabella Lemke, brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and many forever friends.

You are forever etched in our hearts and loved beyond measure!

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers contributions to the Chris Carpenter Scholarship Fund (see family for further information).

Condolences
