In Loving memory of John (Jack) Louis Castello V who passed away on September 15, 2024 from complications of Liver Cancer. He died peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Born on June 10, 1962 in Freeport, IL, Jack valued the time spent with family and friends, whether on a river fishing, traveling the world or just hanging out in beautiful San Diego. Jack has had so many amazing experiences, but the true treasures were the stories, the laughter and the loving bonds he made during those adventures.
Jack is survived by his parents Jack and Kaye Castello IV (nee Koller), his brother Jeff Castello, nephew Luca Castello and niece Gianna Castello, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He will be remembered as a friend to all and stranger to none. His family and friends will miss him dearly.
A service will be held in his honor on Friday September 27, 2024 at St. Catherine Laboure Parish (9750 Sappington Rd, St. Louis, MO 63128) viewing 10-11 am with mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials to Wounded Warrior Project & St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. https://communityfundraising.woundedwarriorproject.org/campaign/John—Jack—L–Castello–V

Jack was an incredible person. He always had an ability put things in perspective and listen. He will be missed and I am honored to have called him a friend.
My sincerest condolences to the Castello family. My thoughts are with you, I know Jack will be missed. I hope you find solace in knowing how much love he gave and received.
Jack lived life to the fullest and on his terms. He is an inspiration to all….follow your dreams, passion and heart. Jack will be in our hearts always.
Jack was a wonderful friend to so many of us in Barrington and beyond. I will miss his big laugh, wise words, fantastic manners & great sense of fun! May his memory be a blessing to his family and friends.
It is now 1/3/2025 & we just found this email notification. Yesterday I (Phyllis) received your Christmas card, simply signed Jack & Kaye & wondered.
I am so terribly sorry for your loss…for our loss. Jackie, as we knew him as a teen, was “one of the BEST,” very caring to our 2 Brandon daughters during their childhood adventures on the Lido Anchorage docks and our sailing trips on each of our family sailboats to Catalina Island. Jackie was especially connected as a “son” my husband Bill never had. We remember the water balloon wars way out to sea.
I recall one Sat night both families walked from the docks to the Port Theater nearby, to see a sailing movie (the Dove). A very scary, bloody double feature movie preceded the sailing movie. My daughter, Susie was so scared, at 6 years of age. Without hesitation, Jackie left carrying Susie on his shoulders back to the boats missing the movie, himself. He was one of the nicest, kindest kids I ever met. He loved everyone, faults and all (including my X). He made lasting great impressions on everyone he met, especially myself and my whole family. All I can say is, I am so thankful we spent that special time with Jack and Kaye and their two great boys, Jackie & Jeff, especially Jackie. The order of his passing is too soon. Thank God, he lived a full life. We were all blessed to have known Jackie.
With sincere condolences,
Phyllis Brandon, Susan Potet, Donna Tennison and all their families
