Robert (Bob) Charles Dedic, 85, of St. Louis, MO, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Friendship Village, Sunset Hills, MO.
Bob was born on December 14, 1938, in Traer, IA, to Joseph Sr. and Marie (Pavlicek) Dedic. A 1957 graduate of North Tama High School, Bob excelled in basketball, football, and baseball, earning the distinguished Bruce Erickson Award. He pursued higher education at Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa), graduating in 1962 with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Physics and Geography.
In September 1962, Bob married Gail Lally in Dysart, IA. They began their married life in Traer before relocating to St. Louis, MO, in 1963, where Bob worked for 35 years at the Defense Mapping Agency (DMACC).
A member of Saint Matthias Catholic Church in St. Louis, Bob was an avid supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, Iowa Hawkeyes, and, most of all, his grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities. Known for his handyman skills, he also cherished traveling, particularly to Iowa and Branson, MO.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Gail; children Dan (Angel) Dedic of Christiana, TN, and Teresa (Steve) Wolfangel of St. Louis, MO; 10 grandchildren, Nicole (Matt) Boyer, Jessica (Mike) Alvarez, Lauren Wolfangel, Erika (Brett) Costell, Morgan (Justus) Dauscha, Emily (Nate) Mannstedt, Chloe Dedic, JC Sheehan, Hope Dedic, and Dani Dedic; and seven great-grandchildren, Kali and Layla Boyer, Michael and Luca Alvarez, Atlas and Mila Dauscha, and Ava Mannstedt; as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Jr.; brothers; sister; mother and father-in law, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law; and nephews.
A prayer service followed by a luncheon will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 12 to 3:00 pm at Royal Orleans, 2801 Telegraph Rd., St. Louis, MO. Guests are encouraged to dress casually. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Bob was one of my favorite patients and will be missed! He was such a kind soul, rest in peace my friend. My condolences to Gail and his loving family for the loss of such a sweet guy, may your happy memories comfort you during this time.
