Dilthey, Elizabeth Jane (nee Lee)

peacefully achieved eternal rest at age 96 on 11-18-2017 surrounded by her loving family.

Daughter of Bertha B. Lee and Joshua H. Lee, Betty led a full and beautiful life with her husband of 63 years Maynard R. Dilthey (Dutch). She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker, business woman, Eastern Star member, an excellent cook as well as an extremely talented crochet and embroidery craftswoman. Soft spoken and loyal, beautiful Betty was the true definition of a lady.

Preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life and best friend Dutch, siblings William B. Lee, Leighton B. Lee and Dolly Lee Smith.

Betty is survived by her children, M. Lee Dilthey(Sonja)Mason, OH, Judith Gail McDowell(John) Westfield, IN, Dennis B. Dilthey(Maureen) and Linda J. Dilthey St. Louis, MO.

Grandchildren John M. Dilthey(Rebecca), Joshua M. McDowell(Kelli), Colleen Dilthey Thomas(Scott), Zachary A. McDowell(Melissa) D. Brian Dilthey, Jr.(Lauren), Kevin W. Dilthey(Emily), James F. Dilthey(Holly).

Great grandchildren Grace, Reece, Samantha and Luke McDowell; Finnegan, Brennan, Knox and Dorothy Thomas; Trip, Laney, Liam, CeCe and Frankie Dilthey.

Beloved sister-in-law of Essie Lee. Dear aunt, great-aunt, great great-aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Our wish is that she may rest in the arms of those who have gone ahead and live in the hearts of those left behind. Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

 

A Private family service was held on November 22, 2017. Memorial contributions to the Juvenile Diabetes Association appreciated.
