In Loving Memory

Gerson, Betty N.

(nee Buckler) born March 8, 1934 passed away on November 12, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She is survived by her children: Victor Gerson (Nancee), Michael Gerson (Dawn) and Christopher Gerson (Tarah Flanagan); 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brothers Donald Buckler, Robert Buckler and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Michael Gerson, parents William and Bessie Buckler, brothers: Ottis Buckler and Byron Buckler, sisters: Modie Lewis, Delpha Webb, Elsie Stafford and Ollie Faye Hall.

The family would like to thank the Mercy nurses and doctors that provided excellent care.

Betty majored in Fine Arts at Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri and worked as an artist since 1970. Her artwork has been exhibited in St Louis, Naples, Atlanta, Saint Simons Island, Winona, Santa Fe, and Majorca, Spain.

 

Betty lived in Europe, and her travels to Central America, China, Tibet, Spain, and the American West influenced her work. A trip to the home of Claude Monet was a turning point in her love of colors and painting. Betty was awarded top prizes twice by the St. Simons Art Association and once by the Jekyll Art Association. Her work was also featured in the May 2015 issue of Island Living Magazine.
