Halfmann

In Loving Memory

Halfmann, Frank J.

on Tuesday, May  24th, 2022.  87.  Fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church.  Dear husband of Mary (nee Walsh) for 63 years.  Father of Mark (Agnes), Jim (Patty), Paul (Kay), and Mary Bathon (Joe). Loving Grandpa to 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Beloved Dad, coach, scout leader, and church usher. Born in Bloomington, IL and moved to St. Louis as a child.  Quickly became a lifelong Cardinals fan and celebrated 8 world championships. (Much to the dismay of his central Illinois cousins.)  He had a similar devotion to Dairy Queen.

Frank was a lithographer by day, printing countless outdoor billboards across St. Louis and America.  By night, he coached his sons in baseball and soccer across the fields of south city and south county.

Frank served his country for 3 years as an MP in the Army guarding the nuclear lab in New Mexico and/or  catching the occasional stray dog. He married his sweetheart in 1959 and bought a house in south St. Louis which remained their home for nearly the next 50 years.

They were  active at St. Mary Magdalen parish in the city where Frank served as an usher for nearly 50 years.  After a move to Arnold and a raucous 80th birthday party, he began to slow down.

Frank spent the last few years in declining health and on hospice.  He passed away Tuesday afternoon in his home surrounded by family.

Services:  Visitation Kutis Funeral home 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd  Monday May 30, 4-9 pm.  Funeral Mass 10 am Tuesday, May 31st St. Joseph Catholic Church, 6020 Old Antonia Road, Imperial, MO 63052. Interment to follow at JB National Cemetery  Donations in lieu of flowers to D:6 Ministries or Masses preferred.

  5. My dear friend Mary, I was so sorry to hear of the passing of the love of your life for some 63 years. What an accomplishment within itself! I know that you rest in knowing that he is no longer suffering and that he is now in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ, Savior and soon to come King: as you know according to scripture: for to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Do know that we at Joy Ministries are praying for you and your wonderful family. We realize that Frank will be missed on this earth but most importantly he will be cherished by you and your beloved children always. What a mighty legacy he has left for his children. God bless you. 15. Mr. Halfmann was happy to be in the middle of the chaos during all his coaching and scoutmaster years. He made it possible for all us no good kids to be a part of something special. There was never a dull moment. He was never happier than when we won the CYC Juv. Div. League – District -City Championship in 1976 in soccer for St. Mary Magdalen.
