Shirley Horvath

In Loving Memory

Horvath, Shirley J. (nee McKee)

May 18, 1929 - February 15, 2025

Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Saturday, February 15th, 2025.

Beloved wife of the late Bill Horvath; devoted mother of Karen Margolis, Victoria (Rick) Jiles, Stacy Albers, and the late Bruce Horvath; adoring grandmother of Rebecca, Erica, Adam, Ricky, James, Taylor, Thomas, Tanner, Turner, Michaela, and Lucy; cherished great grandmother of Weston, Kolter, and Kohen; dearest daughter of the late Mary McKee (nee Riffle) and Earl McKee; loving sister of Patricia (the late Ed) Lynch and the late Paul (Frances) McKee, Virginia (Tunk) Koch, Robert (Dorothy) McKee, and Joyce (Bob) Bates; our dear aunt, great aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Shirley was a kind and gentle soul. She enjoyed singing in the choir, collecting art, and the occasional Bloody Mary. She had a very strong faith and a commitment to her family and friends. As a mom of four, she handled raising them with grace while her husband was often away on business. This is how she came to be strongly independent; something we all admired. We will continue to cherish her deeply, and will love and miss her forever.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are greatly appreciated.

SERVICES: Funeral from KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL (10151 Gravois Rd., 63123) on Friday, February 28th, 10:30 AM to St. Paul Catholic Church (15 Forest Knoll Dr., 63026) for 11:00 AM Mass. Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Visitation Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM.

  1. Condolences to all of us because Aunt Shirley was one of a kind. She was a very special person, kind, funny, driven by her dedication to her family, and loved by all her knew her. I love how she would get together with my mom and Aunt Patty and they had so much fun together. She’s in a better place with Uncle Bill and Bruce and her mom and dad, her brothers and sisters that past before her. She flying high with no restrictions and no more pain. I love you Aunt Shirley xoxo

  2. Deeply saddened on my grandmother’s passing. Very thankful to Gram for everything including the time she let me stay with her for a couple of years after coming back from Philly (fly Eagles fly) til I got an apartment home. She even accepted me for who I am and would have enjoyed getting to know my partner Jean if she had made it further. Glad she’s happy up there with Grandpa Bill, Uncle Bruce, my dad, my stepdad, her siblings and many more. Love you Gram!!!! ❤️🌹

  3. We are very sad about losing Aunt Shirley. We so much enjoyed taking her and Aunt Dorothy to San Francisco a couple of years ago. Both of them will be sorely missed. It’s really an end of an era.
