Ann Howe was born on February 19, 1926 and died on July 19, 2022 after a brief illness.
She was born and raised in the St. Louis area and married William Howe in 1948. Bill and Ann made their home in various states throughout their marriage (Wisconsin, New York, and Illinois). They returned home to St. Louis upon Bill’s retirement, 36 years ago.
The home environment in which Ann’s children were raised reflected her deep devotion to her Catholic faith. She was a hard-working and dedicated wife and mother. Because Ann was the core of the family, her children stayed closely connected to each other over the years.
Ann’s children and all family members will miss her great sense of humor, her intelligence, her wide curiosity, and her joy of simple things.
Ann was preceded in death by parents Robert and Dorothy (Pieper) Powell; William C., husband of 64 years, and daughter Nikki Howe of Santa Cruz, CA, as well as brother Robert Powell and sister Mary Davidson.
She is survived by 7 children: William (Joan) of W. Des Moines, IA; Julia (Gary), Patricia, Mary (Don), of Santa Cruz, CA; Dorothy Monnie of Cle Elum, WA; Robert (Colleen) of Syracuse, NY; Elizabeth of Orlando, FL; sister Martha Nistler of St. Louis. Ann was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at St. Martin of Tours Church, 610 West Ripa Avenue, St. Louis at 9:30 am on Friday July 22. At 10:00 a memorial Mass will be held followed by a luncheon at the church. All are welcome.
All of our love Grandma Ann. I respect and look up to the way you lived simply and as a minimalist. We are thinking of Grandma Ann as we visit the Vatican this week and wish we could be with our wonderful big family that mean so much to me.
