My condolences and deep sympathy to the Lonigro family. I only knew Joe thru golf, but got to know what a loving soul he was. He called me Stevie..like I was a kid, always smiling and joking. He was a very kind gentleman. May he rest in peace with his Lord and Savior.
What an honor it was to know this special man and he will be missed by all his golf friends. Joe personality was so big and he truly loved and cared for everyone. He was a great golfer and everyone helped keep track of his ball or assisted while he putted.
We offer our love and condolences to Bernie his wonderful family.
Hugs and prayers to all of Joe’s family. I was privileged to know Joe thru the NDVGC golf week at our golf course at Kalona Iowa. Joe was a legend at this event. He always met you with a warm handshake or hug and I never saw him have a bad day on the golf course. On our last day, he would always say “thank you for everything, but most of all, thank you for being my friend”. RIP Papa Joe….and let me say, thank you for being MY friend.
I met Joe when I became a member of the Sicilian Cultural Association. Although we have the same surname, I had never met him through any family association. Our surname is not real common as many other Italian names but I sat with him on several occasions to see if we had a family connection and we did finally find a common thread. I grew to love this wonderful man, his wife Bernie and their children John and Rob. I will miss his fabulous personality, his wonderful stories and his kindness to me. You lived a wonderful life Joe. May you Rest in Peace.
Such a wonderful man that I was blessed to meet & know as they traveled with our
travel group to Tunica , many a times. We had so much fun over the years. He and Bernie so reminded me of my own parents. My dad had a passion for golf just like Papa Joe. His love and personality will be missed but never forgotten. Love to All
I am so blessed to have met Papa Joe and his wonderful son, Rob, through the National Disabled Veterans Golf Clinic. As a member of the yellow team, they played at our Kalona, Iowa course. Joe always complimented the beauty of the course and appreciated everyone that helped at the event. He repeatedly thanked us for all that we do. Thank YOU Joe! Thank you for your gentle kindness, your hugs, your friendship, and most of all, your service to our country. You will be so very missed. Sending special thoughts and prayers for comfort to all of your loved ones.
Rest in peace
What a Gentle Man. Joe was so kind to everyone he met and an inspiration to us all in perseverance, he will be missed. Bernice and Family, my deepest sympathies are with you.
