April 7, 1937 – September 23, 2025
Delores Maguire, age 88, passed away peacefully and shortly after receiving numerous visits and phone calls from her loving family. She was the adoring wife of the late Donald J. Maguire, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage before his passing in 2023.
Dee was born in St. Louis, Missouri the fourth child of the late Joseph D. and Mamie Baier (nee Rettler). She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Joseph and William Baier, and two sisters, Laverne Mell (nee Baier) and Lillie Giddings Hutsell, (nee Baier).
It was a chance meeting, at the age of 16, that she met the love of her life, Don, at the Virginia Theater in south St. Louis, Missouri. Married at 18 their union resulted in five children in little over six years: Deborah (Michael) Lydon, Denise (Ronald) Waller, Donald Maguire deceased, Dennis Maguire deceased, and Diana (Dan) Lemmon-Barry.
She loved her family and the time spent making wonderful memories with them: traveling the US in the truck camper built by her husband, spending time at their property in Belleview, Missouri, catching more fish than anyone, hosting the yearly Halloween parties, cooking their favorite foods, and celebrating special occasions. In her spare-time she liked watching old western movies on the Grit channel, writing poems, and going to the casino. Dee retired from Sears, Roebuck & Co. starting first as a part-time employee, then full-time manager of the jewelry department and quickly worked her way to floor manager. Most of those years were at the Sears located on South Grand in south St. Louis, Missouri.
Besides being survived by her three daughters, she was a loving grandmother of thirteen grandchildren: Maura (Chris) Lehmann, Anna, Michaela and Matthew Lydon, Amy (Rob) Terry, Jennifer (Joe) Weinhardt, Teresa (the late Eli) Stroh, Dennis and Joseph Maguire, Donald and Elle Maguire, Christina (Jason) Raines, Joshua (Lauren) Lemmon; thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was a dear sister-in-law to Evelyn Lageman, the late Clifford Blankenship, Donna Ortner, the late John (Judy) Maguire, and Cathy (Robert) Putz; dear aunt to many nieces and nephews; and dear friend.
Visitation from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church (3140 Meramec St. 63118). Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately after visitation. Interment at Gatewood Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church would be appreciated.
Rest in peace my loving aunt Lollie. Wish you joy with your loved ones in heaven.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family and regret that can’t be at the services.
With love,
Jerome
