Daniel-May

In Loving Memory

May, Daniel H.

May, Daniel H.
1935-2023
Daniel H May went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
Dedicated husband of over sixty-four years to the love of his life, Melva. Devoted father to his four
children Shelley Danielle (Bob) Goeddel, Laura Lorraine (Keith) Piontek, Terri Christine May, and
his late beloved son Daniel Harry May Jr.
He treasured his time with his ten grandchildren Lauren (JC) Burnworth, Kristen (Jeff) Broeder, Dr.
Jessica (Dr. Paul) Gruber, Daniel (Lauren) Goeddel, Dr. Jennifer May Goeddel, Jace Archdekin,
Alexi May Archdekin, Joseph Goeddel, Alana May Archdekin, and Abigail Piontek. He received so
much joy from his three great-grandchildren Charlotte and Sophie Burnworth and Greyson Daniel
Goeddel, and Baby Gruber due in July 2023. He is survived by loving sisters Rita Furlong, Barbara
Lindner, and Sister-In-Law Joan May.
Dan May was born February 8, 1935 in Saint Louis, Missouri. He was one of eleven children. As an
Army Veteran, he served and always loved his country. Dan was the recipient of the National
Defense Service Medal. He was an Honor Flight participant. He was proud to be an American. His
family and faith were his priority throughout his life: his wife Melva, daughters Shelley, Laura, and
Terri. He is once again reunited with his beloved son Danny. He always strived to keep his family
close knit which was amazing with many siblings and dozens of nieces and nephews. Dan was
proud to be a Champion Seven Holy Founders basketball coach, a Becker Champion and CityCounty Champion. Dan inspired his children to excel to the best of their ability, and he supported
their efforts 100%. He encouraged all of his kids to attend and graduate from college.
As an Elder of Christ Memorial Lutheran church, he was an energetic member of prayer groups, the
Christmas tree lot, and served as an example of a Christian Man to many. Dan’s favorite bible verses
were Proverbs 3:5-7 and Psalm 91. For Dan, it was always about people and relationships. Dan
began the day reading his Bible and it gave him peace.
Dan was a good-natured guy who liked to laugh and joke with his friends and family. He loved
dancing with his wife Melva, and the Joe Bozzi band or Arvelle at the Ritz Carlton. Dan had an old
school love for live music and dancing and cars, and would seek out all opportunities to get out his
convertible and enjoy his life. May Family trips over the decades to the Lake of the Ozarks, the
family Farm and Huzzah, Florida, South Padre Island, and tailgates down at Mizzou are core
memories for all of his family.
He will be deeply missed by his family and all those who knew him. We were so blessed and
grateful to have him in our lives.

Services: Visitation at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church (5252 South Lindbergh Blvd. 63126) Tuesday February 28, 9:00 AM until funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
