Meine

In Loving Memory

Meine, Howard J.

Meine, Howard J., baptized into the hope of Christ’s Resurrection June 8, 2022. Beloved husband of Loretta T. Meine (nee Kersting); loving father of Dan (Patricia) Meine, Gary Meine, Donna (Richard) Musick, James (Sallie) Meine, Nancy Meine, Janet (Rick) Rayburn, Kathy Watkins and the late Mary Kay Meine; cherished grandfather of 15 and great-grandfather of 15; our dear brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

Howard was the son of the late “Heine” Meine of Lemay who was a pitcher for the St. Louis Browns and Pittsburgh Pirates. Like his father, he also acquired a love of baseball and was a pitcher in the minor leagues in his younger years. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War where he enlisted and worked as a surgical tech.  He went on to marry his sweetheart, Loretta and they had 8 children together. His passion for baseball continued as he enjoyed coaching little league for his three young sons.  He was a member of the Crestwood Elks Lodge #2503 where he made many lifelong friends and served as Grand Exalted Ruler for a period.  He was an avid sports fan his entire life.  He was a huge St. Louis Blues and St. Louis Cardinals fan and rarely missed a game while enjoying a cold Budweiser beer in hand.  He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and many acquaintances.

Services: Visitation at Assumption Catholic Church Monday, June 20, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials to American Heart Association appreciated. KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY service.

  1. Really sorry to hear about Uncle Howard’s passing and for your loss. He was quite a great man who left me with wonderful childhood memories that included visits with his family, shooting, and eating great meals.

  5. We are very sorry for your loss of a wonderful father. Mr & Mrs Meine have been our neighbors for 35 yrs. Everyday we see him sitting on his front porch. We stop and talk to him or waive. Even Charlie our dog loved him. Charlie would go over and sit with him on the porch. He will be greatly missed. Prayers, Peace and the Lord’s Blessing with all the family.
