Jim Morgan

In Loving Memory

Morgan, James R.

James R. Morgan, a brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on September 18, 1946, Jim grew up with his 10 siblings in South St Louis. He built lasting connections throughout the city over the years through his work as a talented builder and craftsman.

He is survived by his former wife and companion in the end, Barb, along with his children: Steve, Jayne and Beth who carry on his legacy of kindness and service. He passed down his fiercely independent spirit to his grandchildren—Austin, Samuel, Rockwell, Loretta, and Luca—and his great-granddaughter, Myla.

His distinct sense of humor and unmatched storytelling ability helped him connect with those who appreciated his particular insights on life.  In retirement, Jim discovered a passion for travel, exploring new states and distant countries.  Jim’s life was a testament to the values of constant learning and improvement, honesty and genuine curiosity.

A Celebration of Life brunch will be held at Das Bevo, 4749 Gravois Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63116, on January 4, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, where we can gather to remember him with the stories that reflect the incredible person he was.

  1. I am so deeply sorry to hear this! I spent my childhood at the Morgan’s house hanging with Jayne and Beth. I have so many fond memories with them and all the family and I am grateful for those special years. I loved the Morgan house. I thought it was the most amazing place. Jim was such a talented craftsman/builder and their house was one of a kind. My heartfelt and deepest condolences to you all. I’m so very sorry for your loss. Jim was a good man and will certainly be missed.
