son of the late Joseph P & Mary Rice on Friday, November 12, 2021. Beloved husband of Mary Dianne. Dear father of Kelly (Matt) Pelt, Tracy Rice, Joey (Carrie) Rice, & Jeffrey (Alex) Rice.

Dearest Paw Paw of Matthew (Rosa) Pelt, Lexi Rice, Connor Pelt, Nikki Rice, Mary Pelt, and Lucas Rice. Paw Paw Great to Greyson Pelt.

A loving brother to Theresa Clark, Maureen Wrobel, Bill (Lori) Rice, Joan (Jim) Schwarz, Tom (Anna) Rice, Peggy (Bill) Seliga, Nancy (the late Michael) McCafferty and Ellen Sippel. A devoted and loyal uncle, cousin, and friend to so many.

Joe was a dedicated member of the Teamsters for over 40 years. He was an avid sports fan and you would often find him happiest at his kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events. He enjoyed carpentry and home projects of all sorts, and his craftsmanship was second to none. He was always in the middle of a book. He was the epitome of strong, intelligent, generous, and patient.

If you were lucky enough to know him, you knew your life was made better because of him.

SERVICES: Visitation at Kutis AFFTON Chapel, 10151 Gravois, Wednesday, Novmber 17, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass at Immaculte Conception Church, Columbia, IL. Thursday 9:30 am.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Siteman Cancer Center.
