In Loving Memory

Mueller, Jean (nee Schumann)

November 27, 1929 - April 11, 2026

Jean Mueller (nee Schumann) passed to heavenly glory in Jesus Christ on April 11, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Lewis A. Mueller; dear sister to the late Margaret Gould (Earl); loving mother to Lewis (Robin) and Michael (Monica); adoring grandmother (“Mama”) to Amy Knutzen (Tom), Megan Wallis (Darvin) and Luke Mueller (Rosie); and proud great-grandmother to Michael, Ailee, Carolyn and Henry (Knutzen), Eden, Everly, and Elliana (Wallis), and Joel, Levi, Macy, and Silas (Mueller).

Born in Dallas, TX on November 27, 1929, Jean spent most of her life in St. Louis, MO. She was confirmed in her faith at Redeemer Lutheran Church; and shortly after her marriage on June 13, 1949 to Lewis Mueller, they became members of Ascension Lutheran Church for more than 70 years. Her bedrock faith and love for God guided all her kind words and generous actions, and they were a testament and model to everyone around her.

Jean was known for her amazing ability to make everyone around her — family, friends, neighbors and fellow church members —  feel special and loved. She was truly interested in and believed the best about everyone she met, always remembering details and important events in their lives. Her sincere smile and sweet conversation, outstanding sense of humor and boisterous laugh lifted up all those around her.

She helped her husband, Lew, build a thriving CPA business, first as his secretary and always as a kind friend to employees and associates. She immersed herself in the life of Lew’s large extended family in Altenburg, MO and beyond. She enjoyed a special letter-based connection with her father-in-law and celebrated the lives of dozens of in-laws and cousins at family gatherings.

Her two sons were the pride and focus of her life. She taught them a deep love for God, the joy of serving others, and appreciation for all His blessings, great and small. Their young classmates and older friends were “adopted” as sons and daughters, and kept strong bonds with her through the years.

Her daughters-in-law (and their extended families)  were showered with love, gifts, generosity and kindness for decades. Her grandchildren enjoyed her individual attention, unconditional love and Godly guidance that greatly influenced their lives as children and adults. “Mama’s” cooking and treats were legendary, her birthday celebrations and holiday gatherings extraordinary, and her care packages, filled with goodies and loving messages, a constant source of love.

She was a willing, gracious and tender caregiver for her parents, Margaret, and close and extended family members. Neighbors were treated to her casseroles and desserts. She and Margaret served their church family at Ascension with Lenten luncheons and quiet, humble service to anyone who needed help.

We praise God for her homecoming to Heaven and the wonderful legacy of her love and memories of joy in our lives.

Visitation at Ascencion Lutheran Church 5347 Donovan Ave.  63109 on Friday, April 17 from 10:00 am. until Funeral Service time at 11:00 am. Interment at St. Trinity Cemetery. 1. Our earthly loss is Heavens’ gain. Her warm smile & southern style made it easy to love her. She was an influencer when it came to aging gracefully. Her love of God & family was evident in every conversation. What a GEM; it would be difficult to duplicate this model! God Blessed all who were lucky enough to know her❤️
