Linda-Noyes

In Loving Memory

Noyes, Linda J.

Linda J. Noyes, loving wife and mother, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the age of 74.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Noble, her mother, Rowine, and her cherished brother, Larry. She is survived by her dearly loving husband and soul-mate Jim, precious daughter Tara (Katie), loving sister-in-law Carole (Dan), beloved nieces Lisa (Scott; Autumn, Aiden), Stephanie, and Angela (Darrin Jr, Dominic), as well as cousins, nieces and nephews-in-law and their children, whom she loved dearly.

Linda was born on March 7, 1946 in Trenton, NJ to Noble and Rowine Walters. She graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School in Paducah, Kentucky in 1964, where she participated in French Club, Choir, Bowling Team, and Typing Club, which she valued for unknowingly preparing her for her career and the computer age ahead.

Linda came to St. Louis, MO in the late 1960’s where she laid her roots, establishing a shining career and family. She worked at St. Louis University in payroll, accounts payable, and tax compliance for 27 years. She engineered several innovative accounting programs which became influential organizational systems at SLU and Long Island University Post Campus in New York, where she spent the last 11 years of her career before retiring and moving back to St. Louis. Linda was inducted into the St. Louis University Wall of Fame.

Linda and Jim enjoyed 47 years of happily wedded bliss. She considered their only child, Tara, her “greatest accomplishment” and pride & joy.

Linda loved St. Louis sports teams with a passion, especially her St. Louis Cardinals, whom she proudly supported during her time in NY, and the St. Louis Blues, whom she enjoyed following as “the new team in town” during her courting days with Jim- becoming season ticket holders.

Linda loved traveling with her husband and daughter. She was a game show enthusiast and loved connecting with others over reality TV shows. She particularly loved to read and exercise her intelligence working brain teasers and puzzles. Linda was a member of South County Baptist Church.

She will be remembered for affectionately telling stories, her authentic laugh, excellent taste in music, and soulful singing, most joyously, with her big brother, Larry. Linda took pride in being a career woman while balancing the joys of motherhood and being a loving wife. She is dearly missed by so many, but her lasting impact, warm heart, and sweet disposition will never be forgotten.

Services and a celebration of Linda’s life will be announced and held at a later date.

If you have a favorite memory of Linda for her family to cherish, please share it below.

  3. Linda and I were classmates as well as members of East Baptist Church in our younger years. Our choir director at Jetton Junior High, Loretta Whittaker, enjoyed allowing the “Jettonettes” provide special music at the churches we attended. One of the songs we performed at each of these services was “Just A Closer Walk With Thee” which included a solo part. When we performed at East Baptist, Linda was the featured soloist. Such pleasant memories of a talented and loving person. Sincere condolences to all of you.

  5. Hearing this makes me so sad but at the same time I smile remembering how as young friends we enjoyed so many times together. We traveled, went to the race track, played cards, cooked for one another, laughed til we cried and watched our babies grow. Linda and Jim have always been a big part of my history and will remain in my heart forever. Thank you for the memories dear friend

  9. David and I enjoyed cruising with Linda, my classmate at Tilghman, and Jim. On one of those cruises David and I met them for a drink on the pool deck. As we walked up she said “you know, I could have sworn I saw David a couple of minutes ago over there, dressed just the same”. We all looked around and discovered she had been seeing David’s reflection in a mirror. No one laughed harder than Linda when she realized what she had done. Her sense of humor was great!

  15. I have so many wonderful memories of Linda that I dont know where to start. She was my rock many times when Tara and Kate were in day care and dance together, and as working moms we bailed each other out many times. We took some great trips together with the girls including Vegas and Florida for Tara’a wedding. Linda was smart, open, funny and one of the best people I knew. This is heartbreaking, many condolences!

  31. Glenna and I visited Linda when she had Aortic Valve Replacement Surgery.
On Sunday, we would meet Jim & Linda at Church and Linda would say, I need a Hug. She was a HUGGER and a good friend. Jim and Linda loved life and knowing them was a pleasure.
