In Loving Memory

Polk, Manfred Harrison

Polk, Manfred Harrison, age 76, passed away Thursday March 24, 2022. Beloved father of Jason (Elizabeth) Polk. Loving grandfather of Nathan, Isaiah, Anna and Phoebe. Dearest brother of Bobby James Polk, Jimmie Shelton Polk, Sharon Polk Young, Patricia Guthrie and the late Revinia Polk. Longtime companion of Hyrum Griffin. Our dear uncle, great uncle, cousin, pastor and friend.

Manfred grew up on a farm in Plant City, FL, as the fifth child of James “Butler” and Lucille Polk. Manfred served in ministry for 50 years, first as a travelling accordion-playing evangelist, and later at the First Cathedral of Deliverance in Knoxville, TN, and Life Cathedral in St. Louis, MO. He loved playing and listening to Southern Gospel music, travelling across the U.S. and Canada to preach in revival services, and was proud of his 1896 historic home.

Services: Visitation at Kutis South County Chapel 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. Tuesday March 29, 1:00 pm until funeral at 2:00 pm. Interment Park Lawn Cemetery. Memorials to the Manfred Harrison Polk Charitable Fund (Fund 5200) for supporting Christian ministry (www.pcafoundation.com then select Give Now).

  1. Rev. Polk was a great pastor here in Knoxville. I had the privilege to set under his ministry. I constantly tell people he was my pastor. I will dearly miss him. He taught me how to live for Jesus. Love you Mrs. Sharon.
