  13. Dear Ruhland family,

We are so deeply saddened to hear of Tim’s passing. As my friendship with Amy and Jeannie developed it was abundantly clear the family love, support, and strength that comes with the Ruhland name. Sending our love, prayers and keeping all of you in our thoughts as you mourn his loss. In time, may the love and beautiful memories you have be the foundation for comfort and peace.

  15. Tim – #1. Good work staying “alive and kicking” as long as you did!
Tim – #2. We all loved you man.

I remember hanging out at Tim and Maggie’s during college (maybe 1995-1996?). Like Mike/Peggy, Time/Maggie would let me hang out, drink their beer, eat their food, and generally enjoy their company. I remember – for some reason – talking with him and Big Mike about not living past 40…because that was a thing in their family. Well Tim, you did it, and you left behind a hell of a good family. God bless you sir, until we meet again.

  19. Big Tim. I’m not sure where to start, but Maggie, Amy, Little Tim & Anne, you guys were always family. Growing up across the alley was something I wouldn’t trade for the world. Today they call what we had tribes, and our tribe was the best. In 40+ years I think I used your front door maybe twice. Big Tim could always bring a smile to my face, I can hear his voice and how he called me Suz or Susie Q. I remember many softball games watching Big Tim, Big Mark, my dad, Maggie, Big Jeannie and my mom and everyone else (too many teammates to mention), I’m certain there is quite the softball game going on right now up there! I remember going down to the stadium and seeing him at his stand, I remember all the apparel in the garage, I remember a quick half hug/arm around my shoulder for reassurance. I remember him hugging me when my dad died. I can’t remember a single bad thing about Big Tim. You don’t get better than the Ruhland’s!! I’ll miss walking in the back and seeing him laying on the couch watching tv. Love you all

He always had the best smile! So sorry for your great loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family. Hugs!

  27. To the Ruhland Family:
We were so very sorry to learn of Tim’s passing. As I have gotten to know the Ruhland clan over the years, it was very apparent how incredibly close you all are. The loving bond that you all share is something so very special and to have even spent bit of time in Tim’s presence was to see that he was such a central part of that connection. Goodness and the kindness emanated from Tim’s presence. Sending you our love and hugs as you make your way through this difficult time. My hope is that one day you will be able to find some peace in your memories of Tim.
    Love,

  29. Maggie, Amy, Timmy, Anne, and everyone else in the family, we are so deeply heartbroken for you. When Eric and I first moved here 9 years ago, we had no idea how lucky we were. We had no idea what we were doing when we bought the house next door. Tim taught us how to be homeowners – how to fix things and what to do when things went wrong. He teased us relentlessly until we let our guards down. We shared every part of our lives with him and Maggie and they listened and offered us constant support and advice. They watched us bring our babies home. They taught us how to be good parents. Each one of the kids learned the name ‘Papa’ within their first 5 words. Tim made them laugh with his silly jokes and hugged them when they cried. When he heard them outside he’d come out just to watch them play and catch up with us. Tim and Maggie became so much more than neighbors. They became our best friends. Our family.
Tim was the best of the best. We will be forever grateful for the time we had with him. And we will miss him always and try our best to be a little more like him.

  33. We can’t say how sad we were to hear this. Tim and Maggie have been the best neighbors-in-law. Any time we were visiting our cousins, we end up in the back yard with Tim’s backyard as an extension to my sister’s. He always had that kind word, a genuine interest, and a playfulness that made him that special kind of grandfather figure. We are so sorry for your loss Ruhland family.

Tim and our Henry had a very special bond and for that I am grateful. To the whole Ruhland Family, we love you and are thinking of you all during this difficult time.

  39. Maggie – Our deepest sympathies to you, Jeannie and your entire family. We moved into our home behind Tim and Maggie about 2 years ago. The very first time we met Tim and Maggie, they told us their gate is always open and encouraged Jackie to help herself to their swing any time she please while on maternity leave with our son Auggie. This simple gesture is a perfect example of the warm and welcoming nature shared by every Ruhland family member we’ve met the past two years. The time we spend with our neighbors and Tim, Maggie, and Jeannie’s families in the alleyway and Ruhland’s backyard is often times our only break from daily obligations and the highlight of our day. We’re so thankful to have met Tim and to have the pleasure of sharing so many simple, happy moments with him and his family. We’ll cherish our morning greetings before Auggie’s daycare drop-off, listening to Tim brag about his grandchildren and receiving our daily reminder that he doesn’t know what day it is, because every day is Saturday. Thank you for constantly reminding us that life is to be enjoyed and to spend as much time as possible with our loved ones.

  41. Our little corner of Neosho will not feel the same without Tim. He was kind and warm. The kind of man worth looking up to. The kind of man you want to sit next to and soak in all the wisdom on life that he has to offer. “What would Tim and Maggie do?” – became a regular phrase in our home. We will cherish every moment spent in the backyard chatting while the kids played, cherish every teasing joke, every sly smile and laugh, and every word of encouragement. He will be so greatly missed and we are lucky to have had the chance to spend time with him.

  43. So much love this man had for everyone. He could put his arms around you, and you would instantly smile. I can see Annie’s grin now. Uncle Tim, you will be missed and loved every day. Telling everyone Maggie was his girlfriend was always so sweet.

Ben asked the other day who will make “papa juice.” He said Maggie will just have to learn. So sweet and innocent minds. Ben also mentioned that Papa spoke another language. I looked at him confused. He said he spoke dog language and would say “ruff, ruff” to Linus, and Linus would understand. Because as Luke says, Papa was an expert in everything.

We will miss you every day. Thank you for blessing us with your “Papa Love.”

I’m so sorry to hear of Tim’s passing. He was such a good friend in grade school (Ascension) and high school (Normandy). I wish I had taken the time to look you both up when I would get back into St. Louis.
Judging on all of the notes above, he had not changed in all these years.
God bless you and your family.
