In Loving Memory

Ryan, Kathleen (Katie) Marie

Kathleen (Katie) Marie Ryan, a loving mother, beloved daughter, cherished fiancée, dear sister, sister-in-law, aunt, friend, and social worker left this world too soon on April 27, 2023. Katie’s life was a testament to love, compassion, and strength, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of those touched by her presence.
Born on September 15, 1986, Katie brought immeasurable joy to her parents, Daniel and Lillian Ryan who lovingly nurtured her into an extraordinary woman. Katie’s kindness and empathy were apparent from an early age, and it was no surprise that she chose to study social work at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville where she earned a master’s degree in her chosen field.
After completing her education in social work, Katie embarked on a career that spanned over a decade. As a social worker, she had an exceptional ability to connect with the elderly, specifically residents with no family by offering support, understanding, and guidance. Her unwavering commitment to her residents was awe-inspiring, and she tirelessly fought for the rights and well-being of the vulnerable members of the care facilities she served. Katie’s impact on the lives she touched will forever be a legacy of her profound dedication and compassion.
Above all, Katie’s greatest joy in life was being a mother to her precious son, Aiden. She loved being a “boy mom” and showered Aiden with warmth and love, introduced him to her beloved St. Louis sports teams, and cheered loudly at his soccer games. Katie loved playing sports with Aiden, reading Dog Man Books, watching superhero movies and cartoons. Aiden will always be her “bug,” and his kindness and compassionate nature are evidence of Katie’s example.
Outside of her professional and maternal roles, Katie shared her life with her fiancé, Ryan Larrabee. They were best friends who loved going on adventures and spending time with Aiden. Katie’s genuine warmth, laughter, and love brought light to Ryan’s life; he will miss her terribly.
Katie’s connections with her sister, brother-in-law, nieces, cousins, friends, and colleagues were deep-rooted and lasting, and the void she leaves behind will be felt by all who had the privilege of sharing a part of their journey with her.
Katie’s memory will be forever cherished by her son, Aiden; her mother, Lillian; her fiancé, Ryan; her sister, Kim; brother-in-law, David; nieces, Ellie and Lily, and all those whose lives she touched. Her love, compassionate heart, and unyielding dedication to those in need will forever serve as an inspiration to those whose lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Aiden’s education, care, and well-being. Please make checks payable to Lillian R. Ryan.
Services: Visitation on Friday, June 2 at Kutis South County Chapel 5255 Lemay Ferry Road from 4:00- 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass on Saturday, June 3 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. Interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
