  1. I am so sorry to hear that Fr. Rick passed away. I met him when I was 18 on a retreat and he was a newly ordained priest. I am 66 now and live in Melbourne FL, Rick and I got together for lunch when he was vacationing in Orlando. I was looking forward to getting together with him at the end of this month. We also got together when I visited the St. Louis area. He presided over the wedding of my wife and me and baptized our youngest daughter. When we were both in the TEC retreat program together, he came to my house (my parents house) for countless game nights. He also taught my wife when she attended Aquinas high school. He is the only person that knew my wife and I before we knew each other. His most common name for me was “Jerk”, followed with a laugh. He was a good friend and I will miss him greatly. He was a good man and a great priest! May God bless all of you!

  2. Our prayers and thoughts for Father Rick. He was our associate priest at Assumption and enjoyed working with the youth groups. He came to our home many times and was a good priest and our family enjoyed his sense of humor. He was so kind to our sons. May God speed him on to heaven!

  5. I knew father Schilli only for a short time and I used to talk to him after 8 am Mass . I loved his homilies because they always included some kind of history. He will be greatly missed especially by his brother priests at Saint Marks.

  6. Fr. Schilli was the Pastor at St. Mary Magdalen from 2005 – 2008. I was the secretary. He was such a kind gentle man and he will always have a special place in my heart. – Francine Voss

  7. thanks Fr. Schilli from all of your St. Thomas Aquinas students!
I remember (and kept) my journal from his class, Life Choices.
Fr. Schilli was at Mary, Mother of the Church for one year when Fr. Telthorst
was pastor. The two of them came to my new home around the fourth of July, blessed our new home and watched fireworks with us. Another day the two of them came over for lunch. The last time I saw Fr. Schilli was when many of the priests were in their white attending Fr. Telthorst’s funeral. I’m sorry I was unable
to attend Fr. Rick’s visitation and funeral.

  8. I worked with Father Schilli at Bishop DuBourg High School. He was very pleasant. We shared a lunch table many times. Now he has seen God face to face and he is experiencing eternal peace and happiness. My thoughts and prayers are with all his loved ones

  9. Father Schilli and I attended Holy Family Grade School from 1957-1965. He was very intelligent and an eager student. I knew him as Ritchie in those days.

My uncle, John Hain Luecke, would praise him as the pastor of Our Lady of Providence and was, of course, heartbroken when he left for St. Mark’s in Lemay.

Father Schilli officiated graveside at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery when my uncle and I laid my brother, Harry John Luecke, to rest in October 2023. It was a wonderful ceremony for which we were indebted to Father Schilli.

We are crestfallen that we will not see him again but know that he has completed his journey here on earth with honor and integrity. He was an incredible person whose loss we will always feel.

  10. I was looking something up about Bishop DuBourg high school (where I attended high school) and Fr. Schilli’s name came up. I did not know him personally but went to school with his sister Karen at Holy Family. grade school for the first three grades. Our family moved out of the neighborhood and parish a year after my Mother passed away. I am sorry to hear of your brother’s death, Karen. God Bless him. My maiden name was Linkul.
