Linda Katherine Schneider, nee Wegener, 78, Union, MO, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, in Columbia, surrounded by her loved ones.
Linda was born Sept 16, 1942, in St. Louis, the daughter of Harold and Julia Wegener. On Dec 1, 1962, she was united in marriage to Richard Francis Schneider, and three daughters came to bless this union.
Linda was a Catholic and a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Union. During her working years, she was employed by Lemay Bank & Trust, where she held many positions. The one she enjoyed most was as Club Director of the Horizons 60 Senior Club. She traveled to many wonderful places both in the United States and abroad with Club members. She also loved traveling with her husband, specifically to Hawaii. She was a talented seamstress, making two of her daughters’ wedding dresses and bridal party dresses, along with her mother-of-the-bride dresses. She loved sewing for her grandchildren and embroidered many items using their sports teams’ logos and school logos. She had a passion for quilting and gifted all grandchildren quilts for their eighth-grade graduation. She also made beautiful heritage blankets for her daughters that used squares created by her grandmother. All are cherished family heirlooms. Most recently she was crocheting blankets for family members and sewing masks for her daughter’s preschool in Columbia. Assembling puzzles was a favorite pastime, along with tending her flower gardens and watching quilting videos. What meant most to her, though, was time spent with family. On a special note, she was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her first great grandchildren, three of them, in the coming months! The love she shared and many precious memories she created with family will forever be cherished by all of them.
Linda is survived by her daughters, Annette Kiehne and husband Doug, Columbia, Brenda Swartz and husband Gary, Marthasville, and son-in-law Jorge Garcia, Fenton; brother Michael Wegener, O’Fallon and sister Barb Pariani and husband, Gary, Houston, TX; eight grandchildren, Melissa Remer-Phifer and husband Brandon, Columbia, Whitney Mohesky and husband Jared, Union, Rachel Kiehne and fiancé Alex, St. Louis, Xander Garcia and wife Gretchen, St. Louis, Jason Kiehne, Columbia, Holly Swartz, Marthasville, Kevin Kiehne, Columbia, and Clayton Swartz, Marthasville; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Schneider; one daughter Diane Garcia; and her parents, Harold and Julia Wegener.
Visitation will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Valley Park on Saturday, March 20, 10 am until Mass at 11 am.
Heaven gained a beautiful fun loving Angel. What a beautiful tribute to my awesome neighbor who always looked out for me when I was growing up across the street. Prayers to all family and friends as they navigate through this difficult time.
