In Loving Memory

Schneider, Mark S.

April 27, 1954 - October 11, 2025

On Saturday October 11, 2025. Loving husband of Janis Schneider (nee Macke). Dearest son of the late James and Helen Schneider. Beloved father of Jessica (Jason) Jackson and Jamie (Kyna) Schneider. Cherished grandfather of Emily, Connor Jackson, Miles and Rory Schneider. Dear brother of the late Greg Schneider. Our dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

‘Mark enjoyed fishing and being outdoors in nature whether visiting a state park or just floating down the Meramec.  Golfing, skiing, and skeet shooting were also among his favorite outside activities. He loved to travel and taking a good road trip, visiting anywhere and everywhere with family and friends.  As an avid photographer, he documented it all through pictures.

Spending the majority of his career as a contracting officer for the United States federal government, he had the opportunity to be apart of many important projects including overseeing the construction of the dam near Hannibal, MO with The United States Army Corps of Engineers as well as being involved in the development of the Comanche helicopter. In addition to his work accomplishments, he made lifelong friends with many of his coworkers.

With his father being a fighter pilot Captain in the United States Air Force, serving in both World War II and Korea, he held a great love for fighter jets, attending many air shows, and deep appreciation for his country.

He loved nothing more than spending time with his dear friends and loving family, including his grandchildren in later years.  He had an incredible love of animals, especially dogs, taking care of numerous as pets throughout his lifetime.

He will be greatly missed by so many.

Services; A memorial visitation will be held at Kutis South County Chapel 5255 Lemay Ferry on Monday October 20, 2025 from 2PM until service at 5PM. Private interment at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Stray Rescue of St. Louis.

Condolences

  1. I’ll miss you, buddy. Good friend, great fisherman, fellow outfielder on the softball field for Scratch and Sniff championship teams, (always yelled at me for where the ball was in the sky), twisted sense of humor (like mine), lousy golf game (like mine), good g-man, taught me how to sane the Meramec for minnows to catch smalleys. Great with Photoshop to always make it look like we caught fish. Couldn’t say where he’s at now but I bet he’s taking pictures. Love you….Con. (Proud to say I was with him when he caught that hybrid striper on holiday shores Lake in striper John’s boat.

  3. We extend our sincere condolences to Mark’s extended family. Mark was quiet and kept mostly to himself, but we knew he loved his family, and couldn’t wait to retire to spend more time with them.

  4. Janis, my condolences for the loss of your husband, Mark. Father to your children and grandfather to your grandchildren, I know how great he smiled at Thanksgiving when his family would be involved. Totally attentive to the grand kids. I remember the time all the cousins met him at the family reunions, back in the 70’s. He was the cool guy we all wanted to hang out with! We will miss him, our prayers are with you during this difficult time.

  6. Janis, we will miss Mark so much. Going through old pics of our times traveling together to PV, DR and the best of all the Rhine river cruise in Germany, our visit to Amsterdam, Switzerland, etc. You and I were so exhausted by the time we got to Switzerland, we just stopped and sat on our suitcases until the guys came looking! We always had fun. Wish you had more time with him, wish we had more time with him! Our deepest and most sincere sympathies to you my dear, and your family. May blessings and peace be recieved by your family in His name. Much love, K

  7. Janice I was truly sadden to here of Mark’s passing, I was going to visit him that morning and decided to go in the afternoon, I wish I could have seen him one more time, none of us knows how much time we have. Growing up I always looked up to Mark. I remember as a kid looking at the helicopter and plane models he built with every detail , it inspired me to build models , I always enjoyed talking with Mark , and that I had a uncle that was a fighter piolt, I never met him, I know it must have been very difficult for Mark to grow up without a father and loosing a brother at such a young age, I am going to miss Mark.

  8. Mark definitely always got the best vacation pictures. A quirky memory/story I have about Mark is from your house warming party when you moved into your Lakeford house. Mark was showing us around the house and for some reason showed me his binders of how he stored his manuals for appliances and such.. He had them all in binders, alphabetized and in plastic sleeves…he was so organized. Because of him, that is how I have mine filed. I think of him each time I have to find one. Same party, I remember Randy and I gave the two of you lawn chairs as a house warming gift. We knew you needed them since Mark’s chair broke on the Scratch-n-Sniff float trip that year and Randy then threw the chair on the fire. That is how the tradition began that something special needed to be burned on the yearly Scratch-n-Sniff float trips. I hope stories and memories like this bring you and your family comfort in the difficult days ahead as you all navigate life without Mark. My deepest sympathy to all of you.
