Gerard Seliga

In Loving Memory

Seliga, Gerard “Jerry” T.

June 13, 1957 - February 19, 2025

Gerard Seliga “Jerry” passed away suddenly on February 19, 2025 at the age of 67. Beloved husband of Elizabeth “Betty” Seliga (nee Wierhake); devoted father of Lauren (Nick) Collins and Madeline “Maddie” Seliga; adoring grandfather of Ava and Emilia “Emmy” Collins; dearest son of Doris Seliga (nee Staley) and the late Clifton Seliga; loving brother of Sue (John) Harris, Clifton (Brenda) Seliga, Steve (Pat) Seliga, and Bill (Peggy) Seliga; our dear uncle, great uncle, brother-in-law, cousin, and friend to many.

We are heartbroken by his loss but find comfort in the love, laughter, and kindness he shared with everyone who knew him. Jerry was the kind of person who never met a stranger. His warmth, quick wit, and genuine care for others made him someone people were naturally drawn to. Whether he was sharing a story, lending a helping hand, or just making you laugh, he had a way of making life a little brighter. His passions in life include: traveling with friends & family, ice hockey, volleyball coaching, fishing and dad jokes. Above all, Jerry loved his family fiercely. He was a devoted husband to Betty, a proud father to Maddie and Lauren and grandparent to Ava and Emmy. Being a grandpa was one of his greatest joys, and his grandkids will always remember his big hugs, silly jokes, and the way he made every moment with them special. Jerry was truly one of a kind, and we will miss him more than words can say. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but his legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in our hearts.

  2. We are heartbroken! We met Jerry and Betty about 36 years ago on a house boat through mutual friends Jim and Kim Lemp. We have so many memories from our time together and I will cherish those memories. We are blessed to have traveled several times with Jerry and Betty over the past couple years. Jerry you were always the life of the party. You will never be forgotten. We will be there for Betty and your girls. We love you!

  4. Our hearts are heavy. I met Jerry as a Kappa Sigma pledge brother at Mizzou and have been a Best Friend since. It’s difficult to categorize him. Jerry was pure goodness. He had a heart of gold, goofy / crazy fun, willing to try about anything, a close family man, and always there when you needed him. Jerry found his soulmate with Betty and together they blossomed, with two beautiful girls, Lauren & Maddie. You knew if you were going out with Jerry & Betty, a good time was ahead. We thank the good Lord for the time he gave Jerry to us on this earth. Happy trails brother ……. until we meet again!!

  6. Played hockey with Jerry for many years with the Boeing Hockey Club.
    We used to sit next to each other in the locker room telling stories about the old rinks, teams, etc.
    He will be missed, and my wife and I will keep your family in our prayers.

  10. Betty and Fam, I am sorry for your loss and will keep you in my prayers;

    Ecclesiastes 3

    TO EVERYTHING there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven:

    A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted,

    A time to kill and a time to heal, a time to break down and a time to build up,

    A time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,

    A time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones together, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,

    A time to get and a time to lose, a time to keep and a time to cast away,

    A time to rend and a time to sew, a time to keep silence and a time to speak,

    A time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

    What profit remains for the worker from his toil?

    I have seen the painful labor and exertion and miserable business which God has given to the sons of men with which to exercise and busy themselves.

    He has made everything beautiful in its time. He also has planted eternity in men’s hearts and minds [a divinely implanted sense of a purpose working through the ages which nothing under the sun but God alone can satisfy], yet so that men cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.

    I know that there is nothing better for them than to be glad and to get and do good as long as they live;

    As Jerry continues to visit and support you, welcome his memory, allow him to fill your hearts with good and know that he has helped make you who you are and is with you.

    May God’s Peace and Love surround you and yours, RIP Jerry,

    Scott M.
