D.-Shockey

In Loving Memory

Shockey, Donna D.

On Saturday, June 4, 2022, Donna D Shockey passed away at the age of 86. She was the loving wife of the late Robert T Shockey, mom of Robert (Judith) Shockey Jr and Deborah (Richard) Bossi. She loved being a grandma to Laura (Todd) Watson and Ryan Bossi. She also treasured being a great grandma to Jax Watson.  Donna leaves behind her sister Karen (Erwin) Rasch, along with nephew Jeff (Jeanne) Rasch and niece Jennifer (Ken) Probst. She was a proud great aunt to Rory, Liam and Noah.

Born on March 31, 1936 in Cape Girardeau Missouri, Donna later moved to St. Louis where she graduated from Cleveland High School in 1954. Upon marrying Robert in May of 1955, the couple traveled to many different locations as part of Robert’s Air Force service. Eventually settling in Affton Missouri, Donna had a 32 year career at TWA which afforded her the continued opportunity to travel the world. She enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends, taking trips, cooking wonderful meals, and exploring new hobbies. She was a member of the 1904 World’s Fair Society and multiple Precious Moments clubs.

Donna was always there when needed, leaving behind a legacy of love and support.

Visitation will be held at Kutis Funeral Home Affton, Thursday, June 9th from 9-11 am.  Services at 11 am, followed by graveside service at Sunset Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society or the Backstoppers.

  1. I will always be grateful that this woman and this family came into my life. Donna was like a second mom to me. She and her family invited me to be a part of their family. I spent Christmases with them, took vacations with her and Debbie, played many domino games with them, dined on delish food cooked by Donna and really felt loved by everyone. I have so many wonderful memories spent with Donna, Debbie, Christy, and Laura poolside in the summers. We’d always have Donna go get us White Castle and she never said no. So much laughter when we were all together. When my father died five weeks after my mother had passed away Donna did not hesitate to help me get my Aunt Diane back to St. Louis from Florida for his funeral. She had just been her for my mother’s funeral and spent a lot of money on a ticket for that. Donna graciously offered to give one of her buddy passes to my Aunt so she could come to my dad’s funeral. That is the sort of person Donna was. She was always there for you. Time has a way of getting away from us and I had not seen Donna in some time but she was always in my thoughts and prayers. A kind, gracious, caring woman. May you rest in heavenly peace.

  3. Where do I start? Mom? Well maybe not by birth but I referred to her as ‘Mom’ (or Mom Shockey). I met Debbie in college and later became roommates. We would travel to STL for various weekends, breaks, etc and Mom would always welcome all us kids with open arms, cooking up our favorite mixed-up spaghetti and was the best hostess. Sometimes there were LOTS of us! She always made sure we were comfortable and had a good time. When I moved to California, Debbie and mom watched my dog for me until I got settled in. Considering my dog adopted the nickname ‘The Dog from Hell’, Mom was quick to offer to fly out to LA to bring her to me. I remember that day in 1994 like it was yesterday. Mom Shockey hosted many visits and then eventually my son came along. He would call her Grandma Donna. Her love had no boundaries. Mom Shockey, We love and miss you but know we will see you again.

  5. I met Donna and Debbie through Precious Moments and the 1904 World’s Fair Society. We had so much fun at the meetings and traveled with both clubs.
Donna always encouraged me to bring my mom to the PM meetings at her house, even though my mom struggled with Alzheimer’s. Donna was a wonderful friend. She called me every night for years during my mother’s illness, even after mom’s passing. Whenever I needed her, she would be there. She will always hold a special place in my heart.

  11. We are so very sorry to hear of Donnas passing. She was such a sweet neighbor and we have missed her since she moved away. It wasn’t uncommon for John and I to be sitting out in front and she would walk up to the house and strike up a conversation and talk for an hour. We have thought of her often and always wondered how she was doing. If John ran into you Debbie he would certainly tell me so and of course how Donna was doing. When we moved into the neighborhood she was still working at that time and talked often about her job and family. She was very proud of both. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with your family and pray for you to find comfort during this difficult time. John, Donna, Matt and Stephanee Corcoran
