Diane Thomsen

In Loving Memory

Thomsen, Diane E. (nee Torrence)

August 16, 1953 - October 13, 2023

Asleep in Jesus at age 70 on Friday, October 13, 2023.

Diane was the daughter of the late Richard and Fern Torrence. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Tom, for 47 years until his death in 2022. She attended Peace Lutheran Church, and she and Tom shared their faith with their three children – Stephanie (George) Williams, Mark Thomsen and Carolyn (William) Schenck and grandchildren Alex, Lucas, Adam and Charlie. She was dearly loved by her siblings Steve Torrence, Barbara (David) Albert, Daniel Torrence, Matthew Torrence and Michele (Paul) Milonas, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. She graduated from Lutheran High School South and received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Diane was a devoted spouse, mother and grandmother. Whether attending her grandkids’ ballgames or spending birthdays and holidays together, she was always happiest when surrounded by family. She enjoyed traveling, and she and Tom took many exciting trips, as well as fun vacations with all the kids. Diane loved seeing musicals at the Muny, the Fox, or the movies, and was very musically talented herself, singing solos and duets at weddings, playing piano for Sunday School, even starring in her high school’s musicals. She was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed cheering on her Mizzou Tigers. She loved to read and always looked forward to the monthly family book club. Diane will especially be remembered as a devout Christian. Her warmth and kindness toward all who knew her will be greatly missed.

Her family wishes to express their gratitude to de Greeff Hospice House for the wonderful care they provided.
