Jacqueline Elise Tretinik, 100½, was born in France and came to St. Louis, Missouri in the autumn of 1927. Jackie worked as an accountant for 905 after graduating from Roosevelt High School.
On Christmas Day, 1942, she met William Tretinik. They married in 1944. They were a strong, loving team until Bill’s passing in 2018.
Music was important to Jackie. She sang in church choirs; Annunciation and Curé of Ars, She and Bill were founding members of Curé of Ars.
Jackie was a member of Webster Groves Garden Club and held many offices. She got a group of ladies together and created the Webster Groves branch of Missouri Extention Club.
With their three daughters, she was involved in school programs and scouting.
Bill and Jackie became part of a song and dance group and traveled to hospitals, nursing homes and even a program in Europe. Together they joined Gold Streamers, a local dance group.
She loved cooking and baking-Christmas cookies for neighbors and friends were a must.
When they began traveling, Bill created the body and working parts of the campers they built, while Jackie designed and created the interiors. They traveled extensively.
Jackie is predeceased by her grandson David Hanchett and her beloved husband Bill.
Surviving family are her daughters Janine Youngstrom (Rick), Linda Wittenberg (Charley) and Renée Tretinik. Grandchildren include Jennifer Cardinal (Steve) and Chris Hanchett (Patti). Great Grands include Alexandria and William Hanchett and Tuesday Hammond.
Jacquie (as she changed spelling in the last 2 decades) was interred October 5, 2023 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. She’s got Bill’s back for eternity.
Memorial Mass will be held October 24th at Laclede Groves Chapel (723 S. Laclede Station Rd. 63119). Gathering at 10:00 am. and Mass at 11:00 am.
