Wanko, Shirley Mae (nee Mattingly)

 Wanko, Shirley Mae (nee Mattingly) passed away peacefully at home, June 9th, 2022 at the age of 93.

Beloved wife of 70 years to the late Nick Wanko. daughter to the late Jim and Leona Mattingly. daughter-in-law to the late Nick and Lena Wanko.  Dear mother to Nick (Jeannie), Shelley (Ted), Jim (Judy), Denise (Rick), Tammy (Bob), Penny (Mark), and Kim (Mark).  Loving grandma to 23 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.  Dear sister and sister-in-law, aunt, and friend to so many.

Shirley loved her many Las Vegas and lake trips, laughing with her card club, her wonderful neighbors, Cardinal games, the color purple, decorating greeting cards, help from her special friend, Angell, and most of all her large beautiful family.

Service Thursday, July 7, 10:00 a.m. at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois Rd.  Interment St. Paul Churchyard.  Visitation Wednesday 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.

  1. So sorry to the Wanko family. Shirley was the sweetest person. She always got a big kick when Jake would go on and on with his jokes on Halloween. She will be missed. R.I.P. Shirley. Now she is with Nick!

  3. What can I say, but , I have such a big void in my heart. I MISS YOU SO MUCH..
    I will ALWAYS cherish my fun times hanging out with my wonderful mom. Our many laughs we had . Me cutting her hair not knowing what I was doing , but she trusted me. Painting her nails and watching American Idol and Family Feud. I miss so much my daily calls to her just to say hi how are you and I love you. Thanks for being not only my mom but my best friend. .. I LOVE YOU MORE, RIP mama, Love Denny
