  11. Kathy, Steve, Mark, and Tim,
We were so sorry to hear of Al’s passing. Larry was telling us how Al was actually one of his first basketball coaches (when Al was just a teenager) because St. Agnes needed a coach. Al’s generous spirit started at a young age. Our son was fortunate to have Al as a coach too. Everyone liked Al and for good reason. Please know that you are all in our prayers.

  19. Big AL had a distinct swagger. People were drawn to him because of his big heart. He was always willing to be of assistance. Extremely reliable, things were handled with a smile on his face. AL was extremely proud of his family. He had a wonderful love for Kathy. You have to put a smile on your face when you you think of Al.

  26. Sincere condolences to the entire Yanko family. I was blessed to have Mr. Yanko as my first basketball coach at SMMA. The lessons and fundamentals he taught us during those formative years transcended the basketball court and made a lasting impact on my life. In the years after basketball I always loved reconnecting and discussing life’s developments with Al. He had a quick wit and thoughtful, pragmatic advice that always struck a chord with me. He was just an all-around great guy. I’m eternally thankful to have known him and look forward to celebrating his life tomorrow.
