Rosemary Zilch

In Loving Memory

Zilch, Rosemary Ann

November 9, 1927 - February 19, 2025

Born November 9, 1927, Rosemary Ann Zilch (nee: Weissenberg) passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025.  Rosemary has been the beloved wife and best friend of Eugene “Gene” Zilch for more than 77 years.

Loving mother of the late Stephen Zilch (Linda), Marian Love (Allen), Jane Zilch, Paul Zilch (Kim), Susan Self-Portwine (Derek), Karen Zilch Dolan, and John Zilch (Nikki); dearest sister of the late Joseph Weissenberg (Christine) and Thomas Weissenberg (Sandra); grandmother of Andy (Sarita) and Tom (Yael) Zilch; Brian (Shelli) and Joe (Mary) Love;  Matthew and Stephen Zilch; Kayte Calhoun (Ryan), Catlyn Ruder (Mason) and Miranda Portwine (Matt); and Claire Tomasiak (Nick); great-grandmother of Maya and Nora; Everett; Sydney, Allie, Kaitlyn and Kevin; Megan and Lexie; Gage, Zoey, Ruthie, Tess and Miles; Silas, Rowan and Iris; Tilly and Severin; Chase, Shelby, Drew and Beckett;  Great-great-grandmother of five, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Rosemary (‘don’t call me Rose!’) loved the art museum, the Rep, the Botanical Gardens, Saturday morning coffee with friends, rose gardening, music and books, and was passionate about politics. She was an extremely proud matriarch of her large and boisterous family, to whom she devoted her life. Together, she and Gene instilled strong values in their children:  family, education, giving back to community, compassion and tolerance.  Of great importance and pride to them is that the family is close, loving and supportive.

In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate your support of Boys and Girls Town.

Services:  Mass on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 10:00am in the chapel at St. Agnes Home, 10341 Manchester, Kirkwood, MO.  Visitation and then luncheon at St. Agnes Home immediately following.

  1. I had the unique privilege to care for this wonderful lady during some of her stays in the hospital. To say she was an absolute joy to care for would be an understatement. There are some patients who leave an imprint on you. She loved her family so much (talked of them so much I feel I know them).

Godspeed Rosemary. You are flying with the angels.

  6. To all of the Zilch family. I was sad to hear about Mrs. Zilch. Dad and Mom have so many fond memories of Gene and Rosemary. The trips, the evenings spent laughing were all such special times. Mrs. Z was such a special lady that always had a smile. It has been years since I have seen the family, but know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

    God bless you all!
