Beloved husband for 60 years of Jane Ponder; loving father of Joe, Dan and Kevin Ponder; cherished grandfather of Kevin Anthony, Catherine Suzanne, Kelsey Alyssa, Joseph Edward, and Kailey Alexandra Ponder; loving son of the late Joseph L. and Irene  Ponder; nephew of the late Gladys Schaeffer; and grandson of the late Levie Scoggins.

Mr. Ponder faithfully served our country in Korea in the U.S. Air Force.  Served over 49 years with St. Louis Metropolitan  Police Department, retiring as a police officer after 30 years. Was a trustee of the St. Louis Metropolitan  Police Officers Pension System for 14 years and was office manager of the St. Louis Police  Relief and Funeral Assoc. Loved going on cruises with his wife and most importantly  cherished his family and friends.

Services: Funeral from Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, on Tues., June 20, 9:15 a.m. to St. Francis of Assisi Church for 10:00 a.m. Mass. Interment J.B. National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Backstoppers.            Visitation Monday 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.
