Philip W Eiler, Bud, was born in St Louis, MO on April 18, 1930, the first of three sons born to Philip G and Emily M (Foelle) Eiler. Bud died on January 2, 2026, in Washington, MO cuddling with his wife of 75 years, Eunice.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 9 from 10:30-11:30am at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, 5252 S Lindbergh Blvd, St Louis, followed by the funeral service at 11:30. Private burial will take place at St Trinity Cemetery in Lemay.
Bud began working with his father when Bud’s Place on Chippewa Street was the local bait shop. He and his brother Gene would go on to expand this family business and move Bud’s Place from Chippewa Street to Manchester Road. Bud’s Place would become the largest Mercury motor dealership in the midwest and a place where many St. Louis families have fond memories of buying their dream boat. Bud’s love for boating and motors continued in retirement where he restored antique boats and outboard motors and was an active member of the Antique Outboard Motor Club.
Bud was a man of great faith. Growing up, that faith was nurtured at St John’s Lutheran Church and School on Morganford Road. It was at St John’s where a cute girl would catch his eye. Eunice Sieveking (also the kid-sister of Bud’s best friend Wally) would soon become the love of his life.
In 1951, Bud and Eunice were married at St John’s. They lived life to the fullest, side by side! They worked together, prayed together, and provided a loving home for their four children and many relatives.
Bud is survived by his wife Eunice, their four children Glen (Karen) Eiler, Lyn Brown, Janice (Bob) Eaves, Donna (Bill) Warhover; 9 grandchildren, Deanna (Ray) Stewart, June Smith, Donny (Deanna) Armfield, Matt (Holly) Warhover, Erin Bedwell, Nay (Jessica) Eakins, Martha Warhover, the late Dylan Eggerding, and Emily Eggerding; 19 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
At 95 years old, Bud is preceded in death by so many dear family and friends that he is now joyfully reunited with in heaven.
Memorial Gifts can be directed to Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, Bud’s church family for over 70 years.
I am so sorry to hear about Bud’s passing! I have so many fond memories of Bud, Eunice, and the whole family!, We had so many great times boating , skiing etc. , with him!
I know that Bud was one of my dad’s best friends!! Now they are up in Heaven tinkering on something together!
I wish I could attend the service Friday, but I’m out of town! Bless you and your family!
Love
