Deborah Bublis

In Loving Memory

Bublis, Deborah A  (nee Reitz)

June 9, 1954 - January 18, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Deborah Bublis on January 18, 2026 at the age of 71.

Debi was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Dorothy Reitz. She is survived by her son, Andrew Bublis, her grandchildren Elijah, Eliyah and Everett, sister Kimberly Kuchan (Andrew), nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her, argued with her, laughed with her, and will miss her deeply. She was imperfect, authentic, and unforgettable.

Debi was a woman whose life was marked by sharp wit, a strong personality, and a love for her family that ran deep. She was funny in a way that caught people off guard, quick with a comment, and never afraid to say exactly what she thought. Her humor could light up a room, and her laughter, often loud and unapologetic, will be remembered by all who knew her. She had a strong will and a stubborn streak, and while she could be difficult at times, she was also fiercely loyal and deeply protective of those she loved.

She was a devoted mother and a proud grandmother, finding joy and purpose in her family. As a sister, aunt and friend to many, she challenged those around her, pushed boundaries, and left no doubt that she cared, often in her own unique way. Life with her was rarely dull and her presence was undeniable.

“Miss Debi”, as she was known to all in the dance community, enjoyed every aspect of dance and was a wonderful instructor. She invested in her students and beamed when they shined. She also passed on her love for dance to her two grandchildren, Eli and Ellie, and will have a front row seat in heaven’s balcony as they grow.  Debi also shared her creative talents as choreographer for the Vianney Fun Timers, enjoyed vacationing with her grandchildren, performing in and attending annual dance recitals, going to dance competitions, taking road trips to Oklahoma, hosting taco Tuesday, and having a margarita whenever possible. As Debi battled her illness, what meant the most to her was attending her niece’s wedding in November and watching Eli and Ellie walk down the aisle as ring bearer and flower girl.

She will be remembered for her humor, her strength, and the lasting impression she made on everyone fortunate enough to be part of her life. She will be missed more than words can express.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mercy Hospice – St. Louis de Greeff Hospice House.

SERVICES: Visitation at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois Rd. 63123, on Sunday, January 25th, 12:00 – 2:00 PM, with funeral service following.
