James Peraud

In Loving Memory

Peraud, James J. “Jim”

April 28, 1934 - June 5, 2026

James Joseph Peraud, age 92, was surrounded by his family when he was born into eternal life on June 5, 2026, in St. Louis, Missouri.

Loving husband and devoted father, Jim loved dogs, carpentry, photography, parachuting, bicycling, and racing his Corvette. He grew up in Joliet and raised his family in Lockport. He eventually retired to Palmetto, Florida where he loved to ride his bike to the beach and remind everyone back up north how warm it was in Florida. His persistence and wisdom, his readiness to learn and try something new, and his stubborn optimism lives on in his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew and loved him. He will be dearly missed.

Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Dolores (née Wozniak), their son Steven J. Peraud, and his parents Joseph and Margaret (Marietta) Peraud.

He is survived by his children Marlene (Ed) Wallace of Scottsdale, AZ; David (Madonna) Peraud of Liberty, MO; James K. (Tracey) Peraud of Channahon, IL; Kenneth (Kathy) Peraud of Valrico, FL; Richard (Julia) Peraud of St. Louis, MO; by ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, by his brother Joseph (Mary Sharon) Peraud, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all of Jim’s caregivers in Palmetto, FL; Liberty, MO; and at Laclede Groves in St. Louis who cared for and loved Jim so well.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am on Saturday, July 18 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Romeoville, Illinois. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim’s name to Dogs Inc. of Palmetto, FL to support their work to train guide dogs for children, veterans, and people with vision loss at www.dogsinc.org.
