It is with full hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Donald R Droney Jr, on July 20, 2026, at the age of 81. Donald Was born on November 26, 1944 to the late Donald R Droney Sr and Laverne Rau.
Though our grief is great, we take comfort in knowing that after so many years apart, he is finally reunited with the love of his life, Judy Droney (nee Thieret) who preceded him in death.
Don served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Vietnam War and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He served in the Imjin Scouts, conducting operational missions along the demilitarized zone. Don worked in the steel industry and retired from US Steel. Don loved fishing, being at the lake, and enjoying time with his family. He lived a life defined by quiet strength and a deep devotion to the people he loved. His family was his pride. His steady presence, sarcastic humor, and willingness to help shaped the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Donald was an amazing Father to Tina (Guy) Karsten, Trisha Whittington, and Christina (Steve) Schaefer. A loving Papa to Kevin (Crystal), Keith (Jenny), Kelly, Zack (Luisa), Alex, Emilie (Jackson), Michael, Tommy (Crystal), and Abigail, and proud Great Grandpa to Kennedy, Karsten, Jeremiah, Wyatt, Corbin, Luca, Lil, Gianna, Jake, Harmony, and Charlotte. Donald was a dear brother, brother-in-law, Uncle, Cousin, and friend to many.
Services; Funeral at Kutis South County (5255 Lemay Ferry) on Tuesday July 28th at 9:30AM. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Visitation Monday, July 27, 2026, 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Lunch Reception following Jefferson Barracks at Royale Orleans on Telegraph.
